Fault Lines
London Elektricity Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Out of sight and out of sound
One day it will appear
Here's the richest pain of love
I didn't think before i dug
I hit the fault line instead
Fault lines joining you and me
Erruptful has occured
Fault lines running through our lives
Techtonic love collides and shakes us to the ground...
I excavated all i could
It was the end for me and you
Sustained erruptions in my mind
There's no point in taking sides
When fault lines come apart
Both sides slip away
Fault lines, i can hear the sound
Earthquakes all around
As one by one statues fall
Fault lines drawn up in the sand
Now slipping through my hands
As grain by grain time slips away...
In London Elektricity's song "Fault Lines", the chorus "fault lines joining you and me, so far below the sea" suggests a deep emotional connection between two individuals. However, this connection is tenuous, just like the faults that lie deep beneath the Earth's surface. The repeated reference to "eruptions" and "earthquakes" hint at the intense emotions that these fault lines represent - passionate and powerful, but also potentially dangerous.
The verses talk about digging deep and hitting the fault line instead of finding what was expected. This could be interpreted as a metaphor for diving deep into a relationship but uncovering hidden flaws and potentially damaging emotions. It also suggests that sometimes we dig a little too deep in our quest for love and end up causing more harm than good. The line "both sides slip away" is significant as it suggests that both parties are responsible for the breakdown of the relationship, and neither can be blamed entirely.
Overall, the lyrics of "Fault Lines" suggest that love and passion can be beautiful and all-consuming, but they can also be volatile and destructive. The reference to geological features and movements also suggests that these intense emotions are natural and part of the human experience.

damn that is pretty cool how they made this music video. There must have been alot of time and effort put in to make this video. It kind of matches the minimal musical theme as well. Its kinda dark in a vanguard way.

Must admit, this is the track that I just skip everytime I'm listening to the album. Some great production on it, just haven't been in the right state of mind yet (whatever that is!) to really appreciate it. Prefer Unquote's Snowy Remix, little bit less tedious.

@texaaron Very well put! I think none of us want to criticise London Eleck cos he's such a giant in his field but I too miss the 'dnb'...

The genre has spread by now into hundreds of subgenres. I have to say the DnB is still here, but in another form, a form that maybe you don't like or appreciate. So I think your comment was completely right until you tossed that last question.
