Meteorites
London Elektricity Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Don't know where you're from but I know you've come far
Look at your eyes, they're meteorites
Maybe we're meant to crash from the sky
To meet eye to eye like meteorites

You're rushing through the darkness
With a tail of fire
I was just gonna leave here
But something changed my mind

Will curiosity kill me
When meteors hit the ground
How can I escape now
I see craters all around

In my laboratory
I study the matter
Supernatural force
I keep putting my shield up
I keep reading the small print

One speeding star!

Don't know where you're from but I know you've come far
Look at your eyes, they're meteorites
Maybe we're meant to crash from the sky
To meet eye to eye like meteorites

Am I just a spectator
In this meteoric game
If I blink I might miss you
And it's driving me insane

You win, thumbs up, hands down
Do your art to me
Don't tell me what's possible
Just meteor shower me

From my observatory
I study the data
Elemental force
Switch off the force field
Downgrade my defenses

One speeding star

Don't know where you're from but I know you've come far
Look at your eyes, they're meteorites

Maybe we're meant to crash from the sky
To meet eye to eye like meteorites

A few years ago, towards the end of my summer holidays transitioning from year 11 into sixthform, my appendix became infected and I headed to the hospital for what I thought would be a routine operation. Through what could only be a lot of misfortune things didn't go to plan and I ended up fighting infections that ended up spreading to all of my organs. The 3 day expected recovery time turned into 3 months of roller-coaster hope and disappointment for my family and friends as I was readmitted to hospital for emergency surgery over and over again. Through the illness I lost almost two stone, dropping to just 8st 13lb at 6' tall which wasn't a pretty sight and I was so weak I couldn't even stay awake for 2 hours.

This song means a lot to me. It was the song I remember listening to for those long weeks in the hospital while I wondered when I'd finally be healthy again. I remember staring out of the window across the valley opposite longing to be outside adventuring in the sun. I don't listen to it much anymore because of the memories it invokes but the song has a special place in my heart.
