Everywhere
Longwave Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

When I'm sure
I don't know why but I feel so insecure
And when it comes
It comes like a great big lull
But either way
I don't know why but I get so crazy
And all the thoughts get twisted in knots
When I'm home
I don't know why but I feel so all alone
And then you come barring down like an atom bomb
And I want to, but I want to
But I want to, but I feel all inside out
But I want to, but I want to
But I want to, but I feel all inside out

Everywhere you turn
There's always something there
And all the time you're getting nowhere
Everywhere I don't know why but I get so crazy
And all the thoughts get twisted in knots

Well I'm sure
Sometimes I feel out a little more
And then its hard
It's harder than it ever was before
But either way I don't know why but I get so crazy
And all the thoughts get twisted in knots

Yeah I want to, but I want to
But I want to, but I feel all inside out
But I want to, but I want to
But I want to, but I feel all inside out

Everywhere you turn
There's always something there
And all the time you're getting nowhere
Everywhere I don't know why but I get so crazy
And all the thoughts get twisted in knots

Yeah I want to, but I want to
But I want to, but I feel all inside out
But I want to, but I want to

But I want to
But I feel all inside out

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Longwave's song Everywhere You Turn explore the feelings of insecurity and confusion that can often plague a person's thoughts. The opening lines suggest that the singer is unsure of themselves, and doesn't understand why they feel so insecure. The idea of a "great big lull" suggests a sense of depression or apathy that can feel overwhelming.

As the song progresses, the singer seems to find some solace in the presence of another person. However, their feelings are still conflicted, and they feel "inside out" despite wanting to connect with the person they're with. The line "everywhere you turn, there's always something there" speaks to the constant barrage of thoughts and emotions that can make it difficult to find peace.

The repeated refrain of "but I want to" suggests that despite these challenges, the singer still desires connection and understanding. Ultimately, the song reflects the often-chaotic nature of our inner lives, and how difficult it can be to find calm in the midst of that chaos.

Never understood why Longwave wasn't amongst the indie bands that got catapulted into more mainstream....btw they released a new album in 2020 and it's just as good as their stuff from 2003!

TheMusicalElitist

They’re hardly indie - they were on a major label for the majority of their career.

Esub Miah

One of the most underrated bands ever, I fucking love this band and was lucky to see them in London 2008. I hope people keep discovering their music.

Rose M Reyes Karam

I'm going to get to see them this Sunday. They're opening for Blue October.

This song helped me get through the worst breakup in my life back in 2009. It may have saved my life.

J'sDesireForAKittycatPersists

This band deserved success at least equal to their talent. My ex came to SF so we could see you guys at Slim's and you were so fucking good and cool about signing merch. Several of your songs, including this one, are my all time faves and I always sing your praises when i talk about the best bands with people. Thank you guys so much, your songs seriously had and still have a profound effect on me! This song will always be one that i want to cover with any band Im in.

Just had this sudden compulsion to listen to Longwave after so many years. Glad to see they’ve got back together and recording new music. This is the first song I ever heard of theirs and remember seeing them live at Night & Day in Manchester as well as seeing the singer play guitar with Albert Hammond jet’s band.

Acquiescence

Their new album that came out last week is excellent. Maybe their best yet.

Saw these guys at SXSW in Austin, TX back in 2008. Good sound and good era in music. Sad the nobody is making music like this anymore. Last great decade before rampant social media and smart phones
