When you're sleepin'
You can be anything you want to be
Can you see me, honey
When you're creepin'
You can be anything you want to be
Leave your body home
Go with the spirit on electro-drive
The song "Driver" by Love/Hate revolves around the idea of being able to escape reality and become whoever you want to be. The opening lines 'Can you hear me, honey, When you're sleepin', You can be anything you want to be' suggest that when someone is asleep, they can explore their thoughts and fantasies without any limits or restrictions. Similarly, the lines 'Can you see me, honey, When you're creepin'' implies that when someone is not being watched, they can do whatever they want without any judgment from others. The chorus 'Run with the driver, Leave your body home, Go with the spirit on electro-drive' can be interpreted as an invitation to escape your physical body and go on a journey to explore your deeper self.
The lyrics of the song can also be seen as a commentary on the societal norm of valuing conformity over individualism. The repeated phrases 'You can be anything you want to be', and 'Leave your body home' suggest that there is more to the identity of an individual than just society's expectations. The song encourages people to embrace their true selves and follow their own paths, rather than conforming to the ideas of what others believe they should be.
