Love Will Rise Again
Loverboy Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You've been hurt and left for dead
Shot from the saddle
And your heart, it's been cut and bled
Run from the bottle

You've been shattered, battered, you've had it rough
But never, ever, never give up
Cause love will rise, love will rise

Love will rise again
You've got to fight like a true survivor
Love will rise again
Up from the ashes
Love will rise again and again

You better run and hide away
Lost in the shadows
You're alone, you wear the pain
Just like a medal

You've been shot down, brought down
You've had it rough
But never, ever, never give up
Cause love will rise, love will rise

Love will rise again
You've got to fight like a true survivor
Love will rise again
Up from the ashes
Love will rise again and again

Believe me I know where you've been
I used to be one of the wounded
There's something your heart can't defend
I'm back on my feet, I come back alive
Stand up and fight, never say die

Up from the ashes, love will rise

Love will rise again
You've got to fight like a True survivor
Love will rise again
Up from the ashes
Love will rise

Love will rise again
Love will rise again
Love will rise again

Yeah, yeah

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Loverboy’s song “Love Will Rise Again” speak to the resilience of the human heart in the face of heartbreak and adversity. The first verse sets the scene: the listener is wounded, left for dead, and in pain. The second verse elaborates on this pain, with the listener being likened to someone who wears their pain like a medal. Despite this pain, however, the chorus is an uplifting, encouraging message that love will rise again. The imagery of rising from the ashes is used repeatedly, suggesting a rebirth or renewal of the heart. The singer relates to the listener’s pain, asserting that they too have been wounded and have found a way to recover. The message of the song seems to suggest that no matter how painful the past, there is always hope for a brighter future.

From a musical perspective, “Love Will Rise Again” is an upbeat, anthemic rock song. The driving, energetic rhythm is underscored by cheerful synthesizer and guitar riffs. The harmonies are tight and the chorus is catchy, making the song an excellent candidate for sing-alongs and stadium concerts. The band has always been known for their upbeat, lively sound, and “Love Will Rise Again” is no exception.

This is the Real Stuff. Rock n' Roll all the way. Nothing can beat the 80's, the best ever.

One of my favorite Loverboy songs ! So powerful!

Johnny English

A great song if you are hurting and getting over a break-up. But also it rocks even if not hurting.

Mike Reno knew what he was doing when he switched to vocals from drums. One of the most powerful voices of the 1980's hands down. Saw them in 2013 and he still had that voice. This band was a huge part of my high school years ❤️

Lisa., put Lou Gramm from Foreigner on that list. Bob Seger, too. 🤗

Rightly said. Lisa Lover-boy was one of the greatest Canadian rock-bands of the 80's. But i love Mike Reno's voice in the popular love song 'This Could be the Night'. It was sensational smash hit in 85. I recommend you also listen to Black Velvet from Alannah Myles. Respects from India.

always thought a Reno-Mercury duet would have rocked

The Wildside album was one of the first cassette's I ever owned. It wasn't the most consistent of albums, but the songs that were great were awesome. The album has a very special place in my heart. This song was always my favorite. Notorious rocked as well. Just wish they played some of this album live.
