On December 4, 2006, they recorded the "Bedroom Recordings" in their mobile home studio, flitting between London and the North of England. Drummer Fuzz Townshend collaborated with them on the record. MTV used a number of their songs, including "Closer" in the hit TV series The Hills.[1]
At the beginning of 2007, they toured in the United States, playing residencies in New York, Los Angeles and Nashville. A local Nashville website wrote, "Lovers Electric deliver 80s influenced alternative dance pop."[2]
After touring the United States, they toured Europe from May-July 2007 as support for re-formed 80s band Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD) playing to sold-out venues.
Within a week of this tour finishing they began recording in Sheffield UK with producer Eliot Kennedy and finished their debut album "Whatever You Want". They signed with Sony in 2008 and released their debut album that August.
Is It Over

tear it down
there is nothing left to say
Should we go?
should we wait?
no one wants to waste away
get me out
either way it has to be
We can't stay
to fade away
the end is not a means for me
Is it over
maybe where already there?
Take it over
maybe were already dead?
I won't look inside no more
I wont wait for comfort signs
I wont listen for the call
I know the answer is too clear
Honest fears
honest doubts
but nothing ever changes
Its nice to talk
nice to smile
that will be the end of us
Is it over
maybe where already there?
Take it over
maybe were already dead?
I won't look inside no more
I wont wait for comfort signs
I wont listen for the call
I know the answer is too clear
The lyrics of "Is It Over" by Lovers Electric convey a sense of uncertainty and contemplation about the state of a relationship. The first stanza sets the tone of indecision, as the singer questions whether they should stay in the relationship or move on. There is a feeling of resignation, as they acknowledge that there is nothing left to be said and no one wants to waste away in a stagnant situation.
The second stanza reflects the internal struggle of the singer. They long to be let in and feel connected, but also desire to escape and be free from the weight of the relationship. The line "either way it has to be" suggests that a decision must be made, implying that maintaining the status quo is no longer an option.
The chorus poses the fundamental question of whether the relationship is already over or if it's on the verge of ending. The repetition of the line "maybe we're already there" suggests a sense of inevitability, while "take it over, maybe we're already dead" adds a touch of despair and hopelessness.
The bridge of the song reveals the singer's resolve to no longer look for validation or reassurance. They won't rely on comfort signs or wait for someone else's permission to find happiness. They acknowledge that the answer to their doubts and fears is already clear to them.
Overall, "Is It Over" explores the internal conflict and uncertain state of a relationship, and the realization that sometimes the best decision is to let go and move forward.
