On December 4, 2006, they recorded the "Bedroom Recordings" in their mobile home studio, flitting between London and the North of England. Drummer Fuzz Townshend collaborated with them on the record. MTV used a number of their songs, including "Closer" in the hit TV series The Hills.[1]
At the beginning of 2007, they toured in the United States, playing residencies in New York, Los Angeles and Nashville. A local Nashville website wrote, "Lovers Electric deliver 80s influenced alternative dance pop."[2]
After touring the United States, they toured Europe from May-July 2007 as support for re-formed 80s band Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD) playing to sold-out venues.
Within a week of this tour finishing they began recording in Sheffield UK with producer Eliot Kennedy and finished their debut album "Whatever You Want". They signed with Sony in 2008 and released their debut album that August.

my head is everywhere
but everything is new
Taking on the world
breathing in the old
but everything is new
like it's the first time
I'm not in control.
I'm in love, I'm in love, I'm in love
What do we say now?
I've got no idea
Changing what I know
learning to be more
now everything is new
Close to what I am
and further from who I was
now everything is new
I'm in love, I'm in love, I'm in love
like it's the first time
I'm not in control.
I'm in love, I'm in love, I'm in love
What do we say now?
I've got no idea
The lyrics of "In love" by Lovers Electric express the captivating and transformative experience of falling in love. The opening lines, "Running through the air, my head is everywhere, but everything is new," suggest a sense of exhilaration and the feeling of being lost in a whirlwind of emotions. The singer seems to be overwhelmed by the intensity and excitement that love brings, as if their thoughts are scattered and unfocused.
The next lines, "Taking on the world, breathing in the old, but everything is new," convey a sense of embracing change and growth. Love has the power to reshape our perceptions and breathe new life into familiar surroundings. It signifies a shift in perspective, where even the mundane aspects of life become fresh and exciting.
The chorus, "I'm in love, I'm in love, I'm in love, like it's the first time, I'm not in control" reflects the intoxicating nature of love. It emphasizes the vulnerability and loss of control that comes with truly surrendering oneself to love's power. The repetition of the phrase highlights the overwhelming intensity and the feeling of being consumed by the emotions associated with being in love.
The following lines, "What do we say now? I've got no idea," encapsulate the sense of uncertainty and bewilderment that often accompanies the early stages of a relationship. The singer is unsure of how to navigate this new love and is at a loss for words, perhaps overwhelmed by the depth of their emotions.
Overall, "In love" captures the transformative and all-encompassing nature of falling in love, painting a picture of exhilaration, vulnerability, and the joy of embracing the unknown.
