Money Thing
Low Millions Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

They're shutting off the phone
Cutting off the gas
I can't afford to heat
The water in my bath
I'm barely getting by
I'm hanging by a string
It's a money thing
I could sell my body
I could sell my sperm
I could sell my blood
With the money that I earn
I could buy my baby
a little plastic ring
It's a money thing

And I got none
It's a money thing
I gotta make some
Money

I stare into the windows
Of couple filled cafes
The men all act like winners because they all can pay
How can I compete with what the y're offering
It's a money thing

And I got none
It's a money thing
And I got none
It's a money thing
I gotta get some
Money

I got a cheap date but she wasn't so cheap
I got a cheap date but she wasn't so cheap
I got a cheap date but she wasn't so cheap

Shit
It's so disheartening
The cash is always king
Happiness and love just don't mean anything
I'll never have enough
I'll never have enough
It's a money thing
And I got none
It's a money thing
And I got none
It's a money thing
I gotta make some
Money
I got a cheap date but she wasn't so cheap
It's a money thing
I got a cheap date but she wasn't so cheap
It's a money thing

I got a cheap date but she wasn't so cheap
Money

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Low Millions' "Money Thing" revolve around the idea that money is necessary for survival and happiness in society. Throughout the song, the singer suggests that love and happiness are meaningless without an ample amount of money.

The lyrics paint a picture of someone who feels helpless and powerless in their situation. They are watching others flaunt their wealth and wondering how they can compete. Despite the fact that they've found someone to date, they still feel trapped by their financial situation.

Overall, "Money Thing" highlights the harsh reality that many people face in society, where wealth and privilege often determine one's quality of life. The song emphasizes the overwhelming feeling of being stuck in a cycle of poverty and the hopelessness that comes with it.

@IcanseeclearlynowI totally disagree!
He never said or acted like he wanted to be "the star" and I certainly would not say he was "brown-nosing".

He said he WANTED TO LEARN MORE and he didn't want to sit around and do nothing when there was nothing to do.

I experienced the same conditions as he did, and the word for what those other workers lived in their jobs, is somewhere between just doing the minimal, to outright lazy.

He also never said he was a "leader" or wanted to be one.

He had a boss, who obviously did not inspire his team, or give direction (as a manager should), to worker smarter if not optimally for each of their positions.

It was a blessing for him to leave, because then he got the boost to spread his wings and fly, instead of being a dodo and staying in the nest beyond his time.

I dont hear much knowledge, in the first 13min they say rondabout 50xtimes "Business" but cant clearly address that shes making today, money from selling Courses, or social media. I dont like that kind of people, "they selling dreams to the folk with theire talks".

The easy way, with no effort, a nobrainer is simply to buy an ETF from SP500 or Nasdaq, pay monthly in and sleep for 15 Years. You are wellcome.

Question to Codie; How can you work in finance build a Billion dollar company, and tell in the same Episode you dont know nothing about finance? -So you basiclly got a Paycheck for going to work and sitting infront of a Desk? Well it like that job too.

Im Mad, the Downvote on this Video is a matter of lack investigation about the People that sits in this Podcast.

I am truly mesmerized by Codie, she really resonates with me. One idea I came up with listening to this podcast is below, and I hope it will be useful to others.
It is about the idea of finding that person who you can learn from or teach you what is behind the next curtain, using the gradual ways Codie and Steven discuss throughout.
I started to think okay, if I was a $1M, $10M, $100M $1B net worth person, where would I hang out, what would I do?
(I know for a fact that it probably is not the yacht club no matter how much money I have, but we are all different :) )

The idea is 1: I would probably resonate with someone more who share my interests, 2: It is fun to play around with the idea of what would $1B me would do, but that would be too big of a gap to connect with that person at the moment. 3: as I was doing this I realised this could become a rough roadmap too.

So, grabbed pen and paper, wrote out interests, how to spend time, what places to frequent, Hustle vs Give back ratio, etc...
I have a good idea now what $1M me would do and where would he hang around. Time to find him/them :)

I feel like she speaks volumes to natural born entrepreneurs and hustlers and the bosses of the world... it does cost to be the boss lol so not everyones willing to even want to begin to understand this stuff.. and without the workers there wouldn't be the bosses to run them... it makes the world go around... it's hard to learn something that certain people just aren't built for... but for the people that are born leaders.. she's very motivating

Curious what the book she asked them to read was. Any idea? [59:53]

I am a retired high school school teacher. I had a student in class that was extremely motivated to start his own business. He started selling bicycles in his basement and then proceeded to own a ski shop. The business went bankrupt, but that didn’t stop his enthusiasm. He was determined to succeed. He never graduated from college. Mike Rubin was my student who became a billionaire. It can be done.

SP

I used to work in an accounting firm that started, dissolved and liquidated hundreds of businesses. I met more people who got financially, emotionally and physically destroyed by failed businesses than I can remember. But you don't hear from those people very often, I guess that video wouldn't sell very well now, would it?

Wow nice!

@SPtbh most businesses fail because they don't adhere to the cornerstone rules and are driven on impulse. Proof of this is the people who have many successful businesses - if it was all based on chance this would be impossible. It is a sorry situation though :/

Sam Mlotshwa

@A WH This is food for thought. I have been asking people who have had failed businesses before and their responses haven’t really made sense till this write up .

Thank you
