Biography
Formed in 1995 in Austin TX, Lower Class Brats set out to create music unlike anything else in their city. A mixture of Punk, Oi!, 70s Glam and straight ahead rock and roll merged with the theatric imagery of A Clockwork Orange. After six months of writing and rehearsals the band began to perform and released a demo cassette. A year later the band's first full length “Rather Be Hated Than Ignored” was released on GMM records and became the soundtrack for a fanbase now known as the “LCB Army”.
The recorded history of five full-length LPs, thirteen 7” EPs and three different compilation LPs under their belts. Provides testament to the band's reputation that they are a group that works as hard as they play. All while performing worldwide across the US, Canada, UK, Europe and Asia.
LCB members- Bones (vox), Marty Volume (guitar), Ron Conflict (bass), Zed (guitar) and Nick Brat (drums) continue to record and perform after a 20+ year history. Taking great care that every live show is more than "just another gig" and a night for those in attendance to cut loose, forget their daily woes and sing, scream and shout along.
Who Writes Your Rules
Lower Class Brats Lyrics

Fake blue dreads & They're wearing baggy jeans
They think they're cool they think they're tough
But we know better they're just pups
[Chorus:]
Who writes your rules for rebellion
You'll buy anything they're sellin'
Who writes your rules for rebellion
Standing on the streets beggin' for my loot
I won't give you nothing except for my boot
Your scream "Fuck the System" but you're the systems tool
Look at yourself man your looking at a fool
You're trendy fucks your hippies with spikes
Your everything I hate & your nothing I like
You know everything and your only sixteen
You claim to be punks but you don't support the scene
The lyrics of Lower Class Brats' "Who Writes Your Rules" is a disdainful take on the trend followers of punk culture. The song starts by describing the wannabes who come trying to look mean with fake blue dreads and baggy jeans, thinking they are cool and tough. However, the singer claims to know better, calling them mere pups. The chorus questions the authenticity of their rebellious attitude by asking, "who writes your rules for rebellion?" The lyrics highlight how these trend followers buy into anything they are sold, without any real understanding of the punk movement.
In the following verse, the singer describes encountering these trend followers on the streets, begging for their loot. The singer refuses to give them anything and instead threatens them with a boot. The song suggests that the trend followers scream, "Fuck the System," but they are tools of the system themselves. The singer calls them trendy hippies with spikes, who know everything at the mere age of sixteen, but are not really supporting the punk scene. In essence, the song is calling out the lack of originality and blind following of a trend that the singer believes the punk subculture resists.
