You said you're gonna burn it all down.
Drive your car to the end of the bridge.
Sit and watch the smoke rise.
Lay on your hood at the top of the ridge.
Gonna watch it all burn tonight...
Well alright.
You said you fell for a boy at the bar.
Drive your car to the end of the bridge.
Sit and watch the sun rise.
Lay on your hood at the top of the ridge.
Gonna fall in love tonight ...
Well alright.
You said you're tired of this goddamned town.
You said you're gonna burn it all down.
You said you fell for a boy at the bar.
Only thing burning was the love in your heart.
C'mon baby lets watch it all burn.
C'mon baby lets watch it all burn.
C'mon baby lets watch it all burn.
C'mon baby lets watch it all burn.
The lyrics of Lucero's song "Watch It Burn" present a poignant depiction of a person who has had enough of their life in a particular town and is willing to watch it all go up in smoke. In the first verse, the singer expresses their frustration with the town and declares their resolve to burn it down. The imagery of driving to the end of a bridge and watching the smoke rise amplifies the sense of detachment and detachment that the singer feels towards the place they call home. Similarly, lying on the hood of their car on top of the ridge while watching everything burn down is a symbol of the singer's indifference to their surroundings.
In the second verse, the singer shares their experience of falling for a boy at the bar, but the only thing that was burning was the flame in their heart. This revelation highlights the lack of substance and meaning in the singer's life, further emphasizing their lack of attachment to the town. The repeated refrain of "C'mon baby let's watch it all burn" indicates a desire for a clean break from the past and an eagerness to step into the unknown. Overall, the song tells a story of a person who is disillusioned with their life and is ready to start anew, forsaking everything they have ever known.
