Still love you
He's got you
Do you miss me too?
Yeah
I'm not through
Are you?
"Almost blue"
She's not you
Still love you
I miss you
Do you miss me too?
Yeah
The lyrics of M.I.K.E.'s song "Before Dawn" can be interpreted as a reflection on a past love and the lingering feelings that remain. The repetition of "Still love you" emphasizes that despite time passing, the singer's love for someone still persists. The line "He's got you" suggests that the person they once loved is now in a relationship with someone else, which could imply feelings of jealousy or longing.
The question "Do you miss me too?" reveals that the singer is uncertain about the other person's feelings towards them. It illustrates an underlying desire for a mutual longing or the hope that the other person may still carry the same emotions. The response "Yeah" strengthens this longing, hinting at the possibility that the other person might indeed miss the singer as well.
The line "I'm not through, Are you?" conveys a sense of incompleteness or unfinished business in the connection between the singer and the other person. It suggests that the feelings and emotions are not resolved, and there is a desire to understand if the other person feels the same way.
The phrase "Almost blue" can be interpreted as a metaphorical representation of the singer's emotional state. "Blue" often signifies sadness or melancholy, and by using the word "almost," it suggests that the singer is experiencing a subtle form of sadness or longing. This line further emphasizes the depth of the emotions being felt.
Throughout the lyrics, the repeated phrase "Still love you" underscores the resilience of the singer's affection, while the line "She's not you" indicates that even though others may be in their life now, they still hold onto the memory and love for this particular person.
In the final lines, "I miss you, do you miss me too? Yeah," the singer openly expresses their yearning for the other person. It conveys a sense of vulnerability and the need for validation or confirmation that their love and longing are reciprocated.
Overall, the lyrics of "Before Dawn" reflect on the persistent love and longing the singer feels for someone from their past. It portrays a complex mix of emotions, incorporating elements of love, jealousy, longing, and uncertainty about whether the other person shares these same sentiments.
