M. Walking on the Water was founded 1985 by Markus Maria Jansen and Mike Pelzer using rhytmmachines. After a while their line-up was enriched by Joshua Jankowitz and Ulrich Kisters. They soon started doing live-performances in unexpected places in the public. As their popularity grows and after winning the Ruhr-Rock-Festival, they release their first single "Party in the Cemetary" on their own.
The single has been a great success and soon afterwards they released their first self-titled album under the Fuego independent label. Their popularity grew and their live performances were highly appreciated by the dancing public. The Goethe-Institut hired them twice for tours through Γthiopia, Tansania, Kenia, Madagascar, Sudan, Kasachstan, Usbekistan, Tukmenistan, Kirgistan and Tadschikistan.
During their (so far) 11 years of musical carreer they have tried a lot of different styles: rough, folky, slow, fast, waltz, electro-pop and cover songs (Pictures of an Exhibitionist). Some of their recordings were done in Markus' living room (Wood), some in a lonely cottage in Lousiana (La Louisianne).
After seven albums, two EPs, several singles and eleven years of music, M. Walking on the Water can be said to be one of Germany's most popular Indie bands featuring powerful live-performances. As of 2007, ten years after the last album was released, M. WAlking on the Water has not yet been officially declared as being dissolved.

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I don't give a damn
Smoke a half a pound with another zan
No candy bar i want a hundred grand
If you a bad bitch do my cousin
All these ones on the floor
That's a floor plan
I'm going to ball until i fall
Got good dro i'm rolling
Dumb whores or skinny whores
Just go get more
I don't give a fuck what a nigga think
I'm the shit bitch smell my stink
Balling like a bitch nigga
I be skylar diggens any nigga
Diss the squad ass gone be missing
Cut through baller O.J simpson
Something like katt williams
I stay pimping No popeyes
But we getting chicken
Wish you would try me
Be my Genie get you wacked off
For a pretty penny no south park
Going timmy with the semi
Going timmy with the semi
No south park bitch im going timmy with the semi
If you a real ass nigga stand the fuck up
If you a real ass bitch stand the fuck up
If you know you about your gwap
Stand the fuck up
If you know you fucked up put your cup up
Now sit down sit down sit down
Sit down I get down i get down
I get down i get down
I'm a real nigga so the real fuck with me
If it aint about a Hundred don't speak to me
Young arrogant nigga all the bitches say im mean
Sloppy bankroll make a broke bitch smile
A couple turnarounds fixing to get a nigga straight
Razor blade and blow about to scrape the plate
Got to think about all the days i didnt ate
Now im eating and asking for a plate to take
Count it up and throw it in the safe
And save it for a rainy day
Because these pussy niggas
Want to stop a nigga shine
Two feet hustling to my grind
Expensive kicks on my feet
Motivation from the grind
Remember all the times when i was down and broke
Nobody to help a nigga up
Now i sit on my money make it look
Like a nigga standing up
Now i sit on my money make it look
Like i'm sitting up
Long as the money come i dont give a fuck
If you a real ass nigga stand the fuck up
If you a real ass bitch stand the fuck up
If you know you about your gwap
Stand the fuck up
If you know you fucked up put your cup up
Now sit down sit down sit down
Sit down I get down i get down
I get down i get down
I'm a money getter fuck being broke
The baddest chick up in the club
Yeah i got to poke Break her down
Fuck her good show her whats good
Kick her out then im back on some boss shit
Never had a fucking gotti but i want one
Never had a fucking father but i dont need none
All i need is this cash and some loud blunts
Put the whole harbor on if i get a deal
Because it's kids in the hood that got to eat
Raised without a father just like me
Stack this bread fuck these whores
All a nigga knows twenty stacks
Up on the table ill split the cream
Getting money with the set whole lot of green
Niggas talk shit but dont even know me
Mama said stay fly get money by any means
Was only six years old when i sold to a fiend
If you a real ass nigga stand the fuck up
If you a real ass bitch stand the fuck up
If you know you about your gwap
Stand the fuck up
If you know you fucked up put your cup up
Now sit down sit down sit down
Sit down I get down i get down
I get down i get down
G money im all about the money
Dont talk to me if you aint about that money
I'll talk bad to you have you looking all funny
Just to show you that i'm really all about that money
So clear the way a nigga about to take this
Serious this that keep it in the safe shit
I'm quick to get at you like water to electric
And if i start it ain't no stopping it
And if i pull a gun believe im popping it
And if i talk shit believe im rocking you
Quick two piece owe wee he hit the floor sleep
Damn nigga you hit the floor sleep
This verse sixteen shoot it until its empty
And if i shoot it ain't no missing
After i shoot i'm dipping off quick
I got a little bit of old school in me
So nigga don't tempt me
If you a real ass nigga stand the fuck up
If you a real ass bitch stand the fuck up
If you know you about your gwap
Stand the fuck up
If you know you fucked up put your cup up
Now sit down sit down sit down
Sit down I get down i get down
I get down i get down
The song "Get Down" by M. Walking on the Water is all about rejecting the superficial aspects of society such as greed, fake appearances, and politics. The lyrics suggest that people are too caught up in trying to fit in, and that it is more important to be genuine and true to oneself. The lines "Who would've thought the greatest would be white and black skin" and "Fuck rap, no bullshit, my favorite, damn I'm back" suggest that the artist is proud of their identity and won't compromise their values for anyone. The chorus, "I only got one take in, don't deal with all the faking, just look at who you're facing, I am your replacement" further emphasizes this sense of confidence and conviction in oneself.
