Korsun was born in the Ukrainian city of Pavlohrad. In school Korsun studied music and dance. In 2014, she graduated in a non-musical subject from the Polytechnic Institute in Kharkiv. Despite this, Korsun participated and reached the final of the contest The Voice of the Country. Reboot, which was held in Ukraine. Korsun is married to Olexander Korsun. She met him while studying at the institute. Olexander was the PR manager of The Pringlez. The team included a drummer, guitarists, a songwriter, and also a photographer and sound engineer.
In 2015, the group represented Ukraine at the New Wave competition. In addition, one of their songs – Easy to Love – made it to the final of the Ukrainian selection for Eurovision 2016.
On 23 February 2019, Maruv won the final of Євробачення. Національний відбір; meaning Eurovision. National Selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2019. Her win was marred by controversy about her concerts in Russia. The rights to her Eurovision song, "Siren Song", belong to the Russian record label Warner Music Russia and the label had organised her first ever solo concert to be held in Moscow at Izvestia Hall on 6 April 2019.[12] After it became clear that she would be performing in two concerts in Russia the following months, Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Culture Vyacheslav Kyrylenko stated that artists who toured Russia or "did not recognise the territorial integrity of Ukraine" should not take part in Eurovision.
On 24 February the National Public Broadcasting Company of Ukraine (UA: PBC) offered Maruv a contract; one of the terms forbid her to hold concerts in Russia. Maruv saw no harm in performing in Russia claiming “performing concerts is my way of bringing peace,” later she confirmed she was willing to postpone her concerts. Maruv stated that the issue of not touring in Russia was not critical to her, and the major disagreement was about other conditions of the contract which she described as a cabal. She said that she is a tax-paying citizen of Ukraine and genuinely loves her country, however she is not ready to turn her participation in the contest into the "promo-action of Ukrainian politicians". "I am a musician, not the baseball bat on the political arena", she said.
The next day it was revealed that UA: PBC and Maruv were not able to reach an agreement on her participation in the contest. As a result of the controversy Ukraine withdrew from Eurovision 2019, which they had been tipped to win.

We kiss too much
You want my touch
I get my touch
It's double dutch
It's double dutch
Don't stay in touch
Don't stay in touch
We are in the black black water
In the black black water
We're deep black water
In the black black water
We're deep black water
In the black black water
In deep black water
In the black black water
Don't stay in touch
It's double dutch
Just stay in touch
I'm on the trouble
We drink too much
I'm on the trouble
We drink too much
It's double dutch
I've got a hunch
I've got a hunch
You're gonna crunch
You're gonna crunch
Don't buy me lunch
Don't buy me lunch
I've got a hunch
I've got a hunch
We are in the black black water
In the black black water
We're deep black water
In the black black water
We're deep black water
In the black black water
In deep black water
In the black black water
It's double dutch
Just stay in touch
I'm on the trouble
We drink too much
I'm on the trouble
We drink too much
It's double dutch
We are in the black black water
In the black black water
We're deep black water
In the black black water
We're deep black water
In the black black water
In deep black water
In the black black water
Don't stay in touch
It's double dutch
Just stay in touch

I'm on the trouble

It's double dutch
In "Black Water," MARUV sings about a relationship that is defined by excessive physicality and a lack of emotional connection. The repeated lines "We kiss too much" and "You want my touch, I get my touch" emphasize the superficial nature of the connection between the two people. The phrase "double dutch" is used several times to suggest confusion or miscommunication, perhaps indicating that the singer and her partner are not on the same page. The chorus brings in the metaphor of being in "black water," which could be interpreted as a place of danger or uncertainty.
Further, the line "We drink too much, I'm on the trouble" suggests that the relationship is fueled by substance abuse or escapism. The singer expresses a feeling of unease or "hunch" that things are not going to end well between her and her partner. The repeated phrase "Don't stay in touch" could be interpreted as a plea for distance or detachment from the situation.
Overall, "Black Water" presents a picture of a relationship that is characterized by physical attraction but lacking in true emotional intimacy or stability. The metaphor of being in "black water" highlights the sense of danger and uncertainty that pervades the situation.
