'Cuz in the morning, imma be smiling
I been running, with no damn place to go
What we doing? that's all I'm tryna know
Paranoia, Oh I think I know ya
I been looking over the shoulder
Holy roller, ain't a thing to show for it
I think I'm back on the way down, to the earth
Now baby, go let your hair down
If you got some
(Go do it, go do it)
Just can't get caught up, won't leave me too much
While I'm in this life
This might be my crutch, always thinking bout it too much
In the evening time
Just can't get caught up, caught up
Won't leave me too much, too much
Just can't get caught up, caught up
Won't leave me too much, too much
Western rover, no roof to hold up
Where you been living? said it's nice to know ya
Inhibition is only prescription
Tell 'em I been out here, I'm on a mission
I think I'm back on the way down, to the earth
Now baby, go let your hair down
If you got some
(Show me if you got some)
Just can't get caught up, won't leave me too much
While I'm in this life
This might be my crutch, always thinking bout it too much
In the evening time
Just can't get caught up, caught up
Won't leave me too much, too much
Just can't get caught up, caught up
Won't leave me too much, too much
The lyrics to Mac Ayres's song "Caught Up" express a sense of frustration and confusion in a relationship. The singer questions why someone is talking to them if they have nothing meaningful to say, implying that communication is lacking depth and substance. The line "What we doing? That's all I'm tryna know" suggests a desire for clarity and understanding about the nature of the relationship.
The chorus emphasizes the themes of feeling overwhelmed and preoccupied. The repetition of "Just can't get caught up" highlights the struggle to avoid getting too consumed or entangled in the complexities of life and relationships. The lines "Won't leave me too much, too much" and "always thinking bout it too much" suggest that the singer tends to overthink things and may be caught in a loop of overanalyzing.
The verse about paranoia and looking over the shoulder suggests a sense of distrust or insecurity within the relationship. The singer questions where the other person has been looking, perhaps indicating concerns about being watched or monitored. The reference to a "holy roller" with no tangible outcome implies that the singer feels like they have been putting effort into something without seeing any tangible results or rewards.
Overall, the lyrics convey a mix of frustration, confusion, and a desire for clarity and simplicity in a relationship.
