As the moonlight is slipping through the trees
As the sounds of the summertime are settling
As the wind blows whispers through the leaves
And we'll run
We'll run
And we'll run
And we'll run
And we'll run free
I'll meet You in the garden
As the moonlight is slipping through the trees
As the sounds of the summertime are settling
As the wind blows whispers through the leaves
And we'll dance
We'll dance
And we'll dance
And we'll dance
We'll dance
And we'll dance free
The lyrics to Maffiss's song "In The Garden" evoke a sense of peacefulness and longing for connection with nature and someone special. The idea of meeting in the garden suggests a beautiful, serene space that holds significance to the singer and their companion. The moonlight slipping through the trees speaks to the idea of a quiet and intimate moment, while the sounds and whispers of the wind convey a sense of synchronicity with nature's movements.
The repetition of the phrase "we'll run" and "we'll dance" emphasizes the freedom and joy of being present in the moment, with the longings and worries of life dissipated in the beauty of nature. The use of the word "free" at the end of both stanzas emphasizes the importance of escaping daily life and feeling unrestricted with the person they are meeting in the garden. The song speaks to the idea that nature can bring healing and connection, and that being present in the moment with someone special can bring both joy and freedom.
