In 2015, she started uploading her original songs onto her YouTube channel, gathering hundreds of thousands of views. In 2017, she released her first single Place We Were Made, which has amassed nearly 42 million plays on Spotify as of August 2021. She followed up later that year with the similarly stripped-down piano ballad Birthday. The songs gained attention in indie-pop circles and Place We Were Made was named BBC Introducing's song of the week early 2018. Following this attention, Peters signed with Atlantic Records UK. Under their banner, she released various singles and two EPs, Dressed Too Nice for a Jacket and It's Your Bed Babe, It's Your Funeral. Both Feels Like This and Favourite Ex appeared on Love Island in 2019.
In 2020, Peters contributed the song Smile to the soundtrack album Birds of Prey: The Album, for the film Birds of Prey (2020). She was also announced as the opening act for Niall Horan 's Nice to Meet Ya Tour on tourdates in Europe. However, these concerts were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Peters released work for another soundtrack in 2021, this time for Trying: Season 2 (Apple TV+ Original Series Soundtrack). She wrote and performed all songs, with a feature by fellow British recording artist James Bay on the song Funeral.
On the 15th of June 2021, Peters left Atlantic Records and signed with Ed Sheeran 's Gingerbread Man Records. Under this label, she released her debut album You Signed Up for This on 27 August 2021. The album debuted at number 2 on the UK Albums Chart and was the top selling album in UK independent record stores for that week. With the first two singles of the record, John Hughes Movie and Psycho, Peters garnered her first notations on the British charts.
Peters embarked on her first headlining tour in 2022, touring the United States. Later that year, she joined Ed Sheeran 's +–=÷x Tour as opening act. While touring she released singles Cate's Brother, Blonde, Good Enough and Not Another Rockstar. She cited various (pop) rock bands as influences in her new music. Peters has announced she will tour Europe, Asia, Australia and New Zealand in 2023.
In January 2023, Peters released Body Better, the lead single from her second album, calling it one of her "most honest songs ever". Following this, she announced her second album The Good Witch, alongside its tracklist, to be released on 23 June 2023, describing it as her own "twisted version of a breakup album". To promote the album, fifteen weeks before the release, Peters began posting weekly tarot cards designed around each track on the album in company of a description of the song. On 31 March, the second single of the album, Lost The Breakup, was released. Peters also announced dates for her North American tour ,The Good Witch Tour, with support from Grace Enger and dates for her UK tour, The Road to Wembley Tour. On 26 May 2023, the third single of the album, Two Weeks Ago, was released

That I am exhausting and you're not in love
Didn't say it in those words
But I know how your tone works
You're MIA, running so free
Calling your ex, forgetting 'bout me
But I know you could never
Yeah, I know you remember
So, I'm feeling and I'm dealing with the heart you broke
While you do press-ups and repress us and take off her clothes, oh
I'm hurting but I'm certain it's still true
I'm the best thing that almost happened to you
I know I'm obsessed and
Right now, I might be a mess but
One day, you're gonna wake up
And, oh shit, you lost the breakup
I'll smile and you'll have to face it
I'm the greatest love that you wasted
But, by then, I'll be far away (uh)
And, oh shit, you lost the breakup
But for now, I'm out in the dust
Falling apart
Oh, is she just like me? Yeah, I reckon
You got two types, Country and Western
So, I'm feeling and I'm dealing with the heart you broke
While you do press-ups and repress us and take off her clothes, oh
Here's something if nothing else is still true
I'm the best thing that almost happened to you
I know I'm obsessed and
Right now, I might be a mess but
One day, you're gonna wake up
And, oh shit, you lost the breakup
I'll smile and you'll have to face it
I'm the greatest love that you wasted
But, by then, I'll be far away (uh)
And, oh shit, you lost the breakup
Oh shit, you lost the breakup
You're gonna walk into some underground bar
You'll see a pretty little thing catching eyes in the dark
And it's me, I'll see you too, I'll wave
And I'm dancing over to you in the corner and you'll say
"Wow, hey, it's been forever
Do you wanna get a drink, like together?"
I say, "I'm kinda busy but like, stay in touch?"
I think, oh shit, I won the breakup
I'll smile and you'll have to face it
I'm the greatest love that you wasted
But, by then, I'll be far away (uh)
And, oh shit, you lost the breakup
And, oh shit, you lost the breakup
"Lost the Breakup" by Maisie Peters is a song about a person who has recently been informed that their ex-partner no longer loves them and finds them exhausting. The singer is aware of their ex's behavior, such as avoiding them and contacting their ex, and knows that their ex still remembers their relationship. Despite feeling hurt, the singer is confident that they were the best thing that almost happened to their ex. They anticipate the day when their ex realizes the mistake they've made, and the singer will be far away. The chorus exclaims that their ex has lost the breakup, and the singer will be the one smiling and moving on.
The lyrics convey a mix of emotions - hurt, defiance, and self-assurance. The singer acknowledges their obsession and messy emotional state at the moment, but looks forward to a time when they will have healed and moved on. They envision a scenario where they run into their ex, and the ex realizes what they have lost. The singer takes satisfaction in the idea of their ex seeing that they were the greatest love wasted, ultimately celebrating their victory in "winning" the breakup.
Overall, "Lost the Breakup" captures the bittersweet aftermath of a relationship, highlighting the singer's growth and resilience while expressing a sense of triumph over their ex's actions.

Got the news just last month
I recently found out
That I am exhausting and you're not in love
You think I'm tiring to be with and you no longer have feelings for me
Didn't say it in those words
You didn't explicitly state it
But I know how your tone works
But I understand your indirect communication
You're MIA, running so free
You're missing in action, enjoying your freedom
Calling your ex, forgetting 'bout me
Contacting your past partner and neglecting our relationship
But I know you could never
But I know deep down you still remember
Yeah, I know you remember
Yes, I'm aware that you still remember
So, I'm feeling and I'm dealing with the heart you broke
So, I'm experiencing and coping with the pain caused by your actions
While you do press-ups and repress us and take off her clothes, oh
While you focus on physical fitness, suppressing our relationship and pursuing someone new
I'm hurting but I'm certain it's still true
I'm in pain, but I'm confident that our connection was genuine
I'm the best thing that almost happened to you
I'm the person you almost had a great relationship with
I know I'm obsessed and
I acknowledge that I'm fixated and
Right now, I might be a mess but
Currently, I might be emotionally unstable but
One day, you're gonna wake up
Eventually, you will realize
And, oh shit, you lost the breakup
And, oh shit, you were the one who suffered most from the end of our relationship
I'll smile and you'll have to face it
I'll be happy and you'll be confronted with the reality
I'm the greatest love that you wasted
I'm the most significant love you let slip away
But, by then, I'll be far away (uh)
But by that time, I'll be distant from you
And, oh shit, you lost the breakup
And, oh shit, you were the one who suffered most from the end of our relationship
But for now, I'm out in the dust
But at the moment, I'm left feeling neglected
Falling apart
Coming undone
Oh, is she just like me? Yeah, I reckon
Oh, is the new person you're with similar to me? Yeah, I believe so
You got two types, Country and Western
You have two preferences: country and western
You're gonna walk into some underground bar
You'll enter a less mainstream bar
You'll see a pretty little thing catching eyes in the dark
You'll notice an attractive person drawing attention in the dim lighting
And it's me, I'll see you too, I'll wave
And that person is me, I'll also notice you and greet you
And I'm dancing over to you in the corner and you'll say
And I'm confidently approaching you in the corner, and you'll say
"Wow, hey, it's been forever
"Wow, hey, it's been a long time
Do you wanna get a drink, like together?"
Would you like to have a drink with me?
I say, "I'm kinda busy but like, stay in touch?"
I respond, "I'm somewhat occupied, but let's keep in contact?"
I think, oh shit, I won the breakup
Internally, I think, oh shit, I emerged as the winner from this breakup
And, oh shit, you lost the breakup
And, oh shit, you were the one who suffered most from the end of our relationship

This era of Maisie reminds me so much of young Taylor Swift. I don't mean this in a 'comparing other women' way, I mean it in the excitement I felt with Taylor when she was releasing Fearless and Speak Now, and her work just got better and better and we all knew she was going to be turning into something really big 😍😍😍
@DarylRaverty
My thoughts exactly. No reason why she will not rise to similar heights to our Tay Tay.
