Winter Bites
Malfunkshun Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Turn me over baby-wont you turn me over oh yea
Turn me over woman can't ya' turn me over oh yea
The world's my prison baby-The world's my prison
The world's my prison!!! The world's my prison yea

(now listen to the bassist)
I've heard your logic-And I've seen it in action
What more are friends for-The losers conquest
So I'll go out dancing with the ladies
Jealousy erases and laughs at me

No room to spread my wings
Winter bites!!!
No room to spread my wings
And tell my friends of love(repeat)

Turn me over baby-wont you turn me over oh yea
Turn me over woman can't ya' turn me over oh yea
The world's my prison baby-The world's my prison
The world's my prison!!! The world's my prison yea

I carry pictures-mental visions
You let me down-And I owe you one
A lethal dose could break all the ties that bind
But I'm yet to show you all my light-

No room to spread my wings
Winter bites!!!

No room to spread my wings
And tell my friends of love(repeat)

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Malfunkshun's song Winter Bites seem to express feelings of restlessness, confinement and frustration. The first verse is about being turned over or released from something, which suggests a desire for freedom or escape. The repeated chorus "The world's my prison" reinforces this idea, conveying a sense of being trapped in the world with no way out. The second verse suggests a feeling of betrayal by a friend, but also a desire to move on from the situation and go out and have fun. The line "Jealousy erases and laughs at me" suggests that the singer is being judged or talked about by others, but that this doesn't really matter to him.

The reference to "winter bites" in the refrain suggests a feeling of coldness, both literal and metaphorical. It could be a symbol for the hardships or challenges the singer is facing. Overall, the lyrics seem to express a desire for freedom and a sense of being trapped or confined, as well as a desire to move on and find happiness despite difficult circumstances.

@Russell Atkins Its sad when fans just focus on Andy.
What about Regan & Kevin?
He is sloppy but it somehow works here. Look I saw bands like Alice, Soundarden, Mud Honey in small venues. Even Guns before Apetite exploded. But I missed the entire Punk/"grunge" or whatever you wanna call it, scene.
I would donate a kidney to see Malfunkshun. Well, I suppose I would donate to a family member, if they really needed it. 😜
Kevin was indeed sloppy but cold, dirty, grimey, sloppy. And Regan while a little behind in some recordings, is a player from the heart. He hits so hard. My favorite drummer of al time is Bonham. That should say something about my musical ear.
Another band I got to see, but not until Halloween 97, in New York.
Janes Addiction with Flea on Bass.
My god did that show blow me away. My boyfriend and I got to party with some great artists that entire weekend.
It is and since been my fav live performance beating my beloved AIC with Layne and Starr 93 Boston out of first place.
That's just a little of my experience, with music.
I once ran away at age 17 to see ZZ Top. My dad, an narcotics detective was pissed.
Music has been part of my life. I don't play any instruments professionally but I can drum to an old AcDc song. I think everyone can play AcDc. Lol
Nice chatting with you.

RIP Andrew Wood (January 8, 1966 – March 19, 1990), aged 24
You will always be remembered as a legend.

@BonJoySwirl

NEVER FORGET Andrew Wood. We owe him everything for what came after. Lives entwined; lives transformed, directly and indirectly. Gone too soon; gone too wrong. Forever playing in my world. "Music sets the sick ones free."

"NEVER FORGET Andrew Wood."

Or Andy's brother Kevin Wood. His guitar work on this really makes the song.

@russellatkins5146

Kevin Wood was and still is a sloppy guitar player.. He was lucky to be in a band. If not for Andrew he wouldn't have been.
