He is also a skater, which led to his career in hip hop; after an accident in 1998, he took time to focus on rap and was noticed by Trevor McNevan of Ontario-based band Thousand Foot Krutch. This led to his signing to an internationally distributed label, BEC Recordings, and debut release Epiphany, which was made primarily of West Coast hip hop with several rapcore outings in the vein of Limp Bizkit.
He released two independent albums, Mislead Youth (2001) and My Own Thing (2003), prior to Epiphany in 2005. He has toured in Canada, the United States and Ireland to date.
His second album, Glory, emphasized rap-rock elements with more Linkin Park-esque nu metal, and included more authentic hip hop stylings.
Central themes of Manafest's music include nonconformity, hip hop culture, and walking with God.
Manafest says in regards to Glory that: "I wanted to allow all of my influences show on Glory. Musically, I wanted to blend the appeal of Linkin Park, Sum 41, and The Beastie Boys. Vocally, I wanted to merge that with popular hip hop à la Eminem and Kanye West. But beyond musical influence, I wanted to reflect on the issues around me in the most positive way possible. And whether I am talking about the loss of loved ones and abuse, or breakdancing and skate culture, it's all for the glory of heaven. In the end, my prayer is that people would not simply bob their heads to this, but feel a very real sense of healing from the words. However, this record is not all serious. Some of my favorite tracks are the most lighthearted ones."

SHIP WRECKED IN TORONTO
LEFT MY HEART IN THE WAVES ON THE WEST COAST
STOPPED DREAMING CAUSE I WAKE UP EVERY TIME
MY MINDS TAKING PHOTOS
I GOT FRAME AFTER FRAME OF THE HIGH NOTES
I’M DONE COUNTING THE DAYS
YEAH
I’M NOT LOSING MY FAITH
CHORUS
THIS IS MY PAIN
THIS IS MY CRY
THIS IS MY HOPE
WHEN I NEED A SIGN
CAUSE I’M NEVER TOO FAR
NEVER TOO FAR TOO COMEBACK
I BEEN SO HIGH
BEEN SO LOW
BUT NO MATTER HOW LONG THE ROAD
I’M NEVER TOO FAR
NEVER TOO FAR TOO COMEBACK
SO I’M COMING BACK

HIT PAUSE AND MY WORLD FROZE
WATCH IT ALL PLAYBACK IN A SLOW MOE
KEEP TRYING BUT I JUST CAN’T PRESS REWIND

In the lyrics of "Coming Back" by Manafest, the artist expresses his journey of self-discovery and resilience. The first verse talks about feeling lost and disconnected, as if his heart is still tied to the waves on the West Coast while he is shipwrecked in Toronto. He acknowledges the struggle of keeping his dreams alive and not losing faith despite the constant disappointments. The line "my mind's taking photos, I got frame after frame of the high notes" suggests that he holds onto the moments when he felt most alive, finding solace in the memories of those highs.
The chorus serves as a declaration of his determination to overcome the obstacles he faces. He acknowledges the pain and vulnerability he experiences, but also finds hope when he needs a sign of reassurance. Regardless of how high or low he has been, no matter how long the road has been, he emphasizes that he is never too far to come back. The repetition of "I'm coming back" in the chorus and bridge signifies his resolute spirit and his refusal to give up on himself and his dreams.
Overall, "Coming Back" is an anthem of hope and resilience, capturing the artist's journey of finding strength in his pain, seeking signs of hope, and ultimately coming back stronger than ever.
