He is also a skater, which led to his career in hip hop; after an accident in 1998, he took time to focus on rap and was noticed by Trevor McNevan of Ontario-based band Thousand Foot Krutch. This led to his signing to an internationally distributed label, BEC Recordings, and debut release Epiphany, which was made primarily of West Coast hip hop with several rapcore outings in the vein of Limp Bizkit.
He released two independent albums, Mislead Youth (2001) and My Own Thing (2003), prior to Epiphany in 2005. He has toured in Canada, the United States and Ireland to date.
His second album, Glory, emphasized rap-rock elements with more Linkin Park-esque nu metal, and included more authentic hip hop stylings.
Central themes of Manafest's music include nonconformity, hip hop culture, and walking with God.
Manafest says in regards to Glory that: "I wanted to allow all of my influences show on Glory. Musically, I wanted to blend the appeal of Linkin Park, Sum 41, and The Beastie Boys. Vocally, I wanted to merge that with popular hip hop à la Eminem and Kanye West. But beyond musical influence, I wanted to reflect on the issues around me in the most positive way possible. And whether I am talking about the loss of loved ones and abuse, or breakdancing and skate culture, it's all for the glory of heaven. In the end, my prayer is that people would not simply bob their heads to this, but feel a very real sense of healing from the words. However, this record is not all serious. Some of my favorite tracks are the most lighthearted ones."

Verse I
I stay for the wrong reasons
I’m scared of my own freedom
Been so long inside this cell
Wanna go but I’m not leaving
Have faith but It keeps freezing
Ran this line a thousand times
Can’t deny the truth inside
Pre-Chorus
All these nights that it kept me up
All these nights that it kept me up
And I’ll die if I keep this up
I’ll die if I keep this up
CHORUS
When the truth comes out
When the truth comes out
It’s loud
It’s loud
When the truth comes out
When the truth comes out
It’s loud
It’s loud
Verse II
Bite down on my lip again
your supposed to be my best friend
Don’t ask me what’s going on
you know i’m barely holding on
I’m about to lose my grip
I’m about to lose my grip
Don’t pretend like you don’t know
You know me the most of all
Pre-Chorus
All these nights that it kept me up
All these nights that it kept me up
CHORUS
When the truth comes out
When the truth comes out
It’s loud
It’s loud
When the truth comes out
When the truth comes out
It’s loud
It’s loud
BRIDGE
We can work this out
We can work this out
Ain’t going down, down, down
Down, down , down
We can work this out
We can work this out
Ain’t going down, down, down

CHORUS
When the truth comes out
When the truth comes out
It’s loud

The singer feels trapped inside a metaphorical cell and acknowledges that lying leads to emptiness. Despite wanting to leave, they are unable to due to fear and the freezing of their faith. The repetition of running a line a thousand times implies a constant battle with the inner truth that cannot be denied.
In the pre-chorus, the singer expresses the toll that nights of keeping up the facade have taken on them, leading them to believe that if they continue down this path, they will eventually lose themselves completely.
Moving into the chorus, the repetitive phrase "When the truth comes out, it's loud" signifies the impact and intensity of revealing one's true self and breaking free from the confines of deception. The use of repetition emphasizes the significance of this moment and the weight it holds.
In the second verse, the singer mentions biting down on their lip, a physical manifestation of the tension and pain they are experiencing. They express disappointment in a supposed best friend who fails to recognize their struggle, and they feel like they are barely holding on. The repetition of "I'm about to lose my grip" further emphasizes their precarious state and the imminent crumbling of their facade.
The bridge offers a glimmer of hope, suggesting that the situation can be resolved and improved if both parties are willing to work through it. The repetition of "We can work this out" emphasizes the importance of communication and finding common ground in order to prevent a downward spiral.
