He is also a skater, which led to his career in hip hop; after an accident in 1998, he took time to focus on rap and was noticed by Trevor McNevan of Ontario-based band Thousand Foot Krutch. This led to his signing to an internationally distributed label, BEC Recordings, and debut release Epiphany, which was made primarily of West Coast hip hop with several rapcore outings in the vein of Limp Bizkit.
He released two independent albums, Mislead Youth (2001) and My Own Thing (2003), prior to Epiphany in 2005. He has toured in Canada, the United States and Ireland to date.
His second album, Glory, emphasized rap-rock elements with more Linkin Park-esque nu metal, and included more authentic hip hop stylings.
Central themes of Manafest's music include nonconformity, hip hop culture, and walking with God.
Manafest says in regards to Glory that: "I wanted to allow all of my influences show on Glory. Musically, I wanted to blend the appeal of Linkin Park, Sum 41, and The Beastie Boys. Vocally, I wanted to merge that with popular hip hop à la Eminem and Kanye West. But beyond musical influence, I wanted to reflect on the issues around me in the most positive way possible. And whether I am talking about the loss of loved ones and abuse, or breakdancing and skate culture, it's all for the glory of heaven. In the end, my prayer is that people would not simply bob their heads to this, but feel a very real sense of healing from the words. However, this record is not all serious. Some of my favorite tracks are the most lighthearted ones."

Verse I
you’re underneath the waves and wind
you hold your breath, as the ocean pulls you in
you feel you’re drowning and no one knows
you hold your tongue cuz you think you’re all alone
but don’t listen to the voices in your mind
you don’t have to fear what’s up ahead
Chorus
CUZ ILL BE THE LIGHT AT THE END OF YOUR TUNNEL
AND YOU’LL WALK AWAY FROM THE GRAVE OF YOUR SORROW
AND I’LL BE YOUR SIGHT
WHEN YOUR EYES ARE BLIND
AS SURE AS THE SUN COMING AFTER THE DARKEST NIGHT
YOU’RE GONNA RISE
YOU’RE GONNA RISE
Verse II
You hide your scars cause your ashamed
But its ok to admit you’re not ok
you wanna be healed but don’t know where to start
when you feel like a body with a broken heart
some days are more than you can take
Chorus
CUZ ILL BE THE LIGHT AT THE END OF YOUR TUNNEL
AND YOU’LL WALK AWAY FROM THE GRAVE OF YOUR SORROW
AND I’LL BE YOUR SIGHT
WHEN YOUR EYES ARE BLIND
AS SURE AS THE SUN COMING AFTER THE DARKEST NIGHT
YOU’RE GONNA RISE
YOU’RE GONNA RISE
I’ll help you make your escape
I’ll be the breath you can take
I’ll be the fire
that will light the way and lead you home
I’ll help you make your escape
I’ll be the breath you can take
I’ll be the fire
that will light the way and lead you home
CUZ ILL BE THE LIGHT AT THE END OF YOUR TUNNEL
AND YOU’LL WALK AWAY FROM THE GRAVE OF YOUR SORROW
CUZ ILL BE THE LIGHT AT THE END OF YOUR TUNNEL
AND YOU’LL WALK AWAY FROM THE GRAVE OF YOUR SORROW
AND I’LL BE YOUR SIGHT
WHEN YOUR EYES ARE BLIND
AS SURE AS THE SUN COMING AFTER THE DARKEST NIGHT
YOU’RE GONNA RISE
AT THE END OF YOUR TUNNEL
YOU’RE GONNA RISE
FROM THE GRAVE OF YOUR SORROW
AND I’LL BE YOUR SIGHT
WHEN YOUR EYES ARE BLIND
YOU’RE GONNA RISE
YOU’RE GONNA RISE
In the song "You're Gonna Rise" by Manafest, the lyrics describe a person who is struggling with feelings of being overwhelmed and drowning in their own emotions. The imagery of being underneath the waves and wind conveys a sense of being pulled down by the weight of their troubles while feeling isolated and alone in their suffering. The individual feels like they are drowning, unable to speak out or seek help, believing that no one understands their pain. This verse depicts a sense of despair and hopelessness that many people can relate to during challenging times in their lives.
The chorus offers a message of hope and support to the person going through these struggles. The singer promises to be the guiding light at the end of the tunnel, leading them away from the darkness of their sorrow and offering a beacon of hope in their darkest moments. The reassurance that they are not alone and that there is a way out of their pain is a powerful and comforting sentiment. The repeated affirmation that "You're gonna rise" emphasizes the idea of resilience and perseverance in the face of adversity.
In the second verse, the lyrics touch on the theme of vulnerability and the importance of allowing oneself to be honest about their pain and seek healing. The singer acknowledges the shame and difficulty in admitting not being okay, encouraging the listener to recognize and accept their struggles as a necessary step towards healing. The acknowledgment of emotional wounds and the need to start the healing journey is a poignant reminder that it's okay to not be okay and to seek help when needed.
The closing verses reinforce the message of support and guidance, with the singer offering to be the strength and light for the person in need. The imagery of being the breath that can be taken and the fire that lights the way signifies the role of the singer in providing comfort, guidance, and encouragement through difficult times. The repeated affirmations of being the light at the end of the tunnel and helping the individual rise from the grave of their sorrow echo the theme of resilience and finding hope amidst darkness. Overall, "You're Gonna Rise" is a song that offers a message of empathy, reassurance, and empowerment for those going through tough times, reminding them that they are not alone and that there is always a way forward towards healing and growth.

Been a little "off" since hearing about the death of Chester Bennington of LP. But this song has helped me get out of my mind and focus on the light of Christ at the end of this tunnel. I pray for the Chester's family. 🖤
