Manassas Lyrics

Then you must know
When you get so jive
You only half alive
Show me right now
That you know how
You can stand up
Look in a mirror and sigh
Get your feet wet
Run with the jet set
Be a good girl
Go around the world
But the longer it goes on
The harder you hang on
Til you stand up
Look in a mirror and sigh
Tryin' to be cool
You just be the fool
Let it be known
You ain't full grown
And its all right
Don't put up such a fight
You can stand up
Look in a mirror and sigh
The song "Jet Set" by Manassas is a commentary on the superficiality and emptiness of seeking a life of luxury and material possessions. The first verse cautions that if someone becomes too wrapped up in this superficial world, they risk losing touch with their true self and only living half a life. The second verse encourages the listener to indulge in the glamorous lifestyle of the "jet set," but warns that as time goes on, this lifestyle becomes more difficult to maintain and can lead to feelings of emptiness and discontent. The final verse urges the listener to stop trying so hard to be cool and accepting that they are not yet fully mature. At the end of it all, it is important to take a step back and evaluate oneself, even if it means acknowledging shortcomings.

Kids of today should look at Stills and his masterful playing..doesn't over emphasise but just lets the notes bleed from his fretwork. Great all round player in his best form here.
