She is best known as the runner-up of the third season of RuPaul's Drag Race. Her drag name is a play on words of the capital city (Manila) and the largest island (Luzon) of the Philippines, where his mother was born. His father is American of German/Swedish ancestry. The publicity generated by her participation on the show brought many new opportunities to perform at various national and international LGBT events including New York Pride and Vancouver Pride. In 2011, Luzon, along with third season Drag Race contestants Carmen Carrera and Shangela Laquifa Wadley, appeared in a television commercial for travel-related website Orbitz. In addition to the commercial, she and Shangela also did an entertainment news segment for US Weekly where they discuss current male celebrities and reimagine them as drag queens.

Crying. Manila is so complex and beautiful, and I very much loved Sahara. As a fan from years ago, I can say my heart was in my throat the entire time of AllStars4 and wanted both our queens to win, Manila, and Sahara, whose legacy she carries with her. This is why it is so hard to see her go, prematurely, on All-Stars 4. She was doing brilliantly and suddenly, it was over. That’s what it was like hearing of Sahara’s death, and this, too is an unexpected loss. It is hardly death, but my heart broke some more.

I wish I could give you the biggest hug Manila. This was such a heartfelt and moving tribute to your beautiful lost love but I couldn't help but tear up. A gorgeous song, probably my favourite of yours, and the costumes and how you played everything out was gorgeous. You've got a beautiful soul. xx
