Inverse Midas
Mansun Lyrics

Everybody helps me make my own mistakes
If I'm left alone I'd make them anyway
Great events but can't predict what's happening in present tense
No reference in code to me
Overall Meaning

The song "Inverse Midas" by Mansun is a poignant commentary on the human condition and how we often rely on others to guide us through life's trials and tribulations. The opening lines speak to the notion that we all make mistakes, but it's important to have a support system in place to help us navigate those mistakes. The singer suggests that if they were left alone, they would still make mistakes, but they are grateful for the people around them who offer guidance and support.

As the song continues, we see a theme of uncertainty emerge. The idea that we can't predict what's going to happen in the future is a common thread throughout the lyrics. The singer seems to suggest that while they appreciate the help of others, ultimately, their life is their own and they must take responsibility for their actions, even if they don't always know what the consequences may be. The final line, "No reference in code to me," hints at the idea that we are all unique individuals and cannot be reduced to a simple set of instructions or algorithms.

Overall, "Inverse Midas" is a beautiful and introspective piece of music that encourages listeners to think deeply about their own lives and the role of others in shaping our experiences.
