06-I REACH FOR YOU
Marc Anthony Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Sometimes it's hard for me to tell you what I'm thinking of
So I try to find a way that I can show you love
What you mean to me
It's not enough to give you everything that you were ever dreaming of
I could never find a way that I could pay you love
For all the things you do
The only one who comforts me is you
When I'm feeling all alone
When I'm searching for someone I can run to
I reach for you
When I need a hand to hold
Or a place where I can feel what love can do
I reach for you
Needing you
Is something that I've really gotten used to
I can't imagine being here with no one else
No one but you
What I found
Is it doesn't get much better than when you're around
Having you is all I really need when I get down
You pull me through
'Cause when my life
Gets crazy
The only one who comforts me is you
When I'm feeling all alone
When I'm searching for someone I can run to
I reach for you
When I need a hand to hold
Or a place where I can feel what love can do
I reach for you
The song "I Reach For You" by Marc Anthony is an expression of gratitude and love towards a significant other. The opening lines reveal the complicated emotions that one can have difficulty expressing, indicating that the singer has trouble articulating how they feel towards their loved one. The use of the term "baby love" highlights the singer's intimacy with their loved one and their desire to express their feelings for them.
In the following verses, the singer speaks of their efforts to show their loved one how much they mean to them. Not only do they try to give them everything they could ever dream of, but they even acknowledge that it's not enough and that they have no way of repaying their loved one for all the things they do. The refrain "when my life gets crazy, the only one who comforts me is you" emphasizes the comforting presence that the loved one has become in the singer's life.
The chorus emphasizes the significance of the loved one in the singer's life. The first part highlights how the loved one is the go-to person when the singer is feeling alone or needs someone to run to. The second part emphasizes the importance of the loved one as a reminder of all that love can do, indicating that their relationship is a significant source of emotional support.
