A Noite Do Meu Bem
Maria Bethânia Lyrics

Quero a primeira estrela que vier
Para enfeitar a noite do meu bem
Hoje eu quero a paz de criança dormindo
Quero o abandono de flores se abrindo
Para enfeitar a noite do meu bem
Quero a ternura de mãos se encontrando
Para enfeitar a noite do meu bem
Hoje eu quero o amor, o amor mais profundo
Eu quero toda beleza do mundo
In "A Noite Do Meu Bem," Maria Bethânia expresses her desire to adorn her love's night with the most beautiful things she can find. She starts by requesting the loveliest rose in existence and the first star that appears, two quintessential symbols of beauty and romance. Her unequivocal declarations of wanting to adorn her love's night with such things suggest that she is deeply in love and desires to make everything perfect for him.
Bethânia then shifts her focus to tranquil, calm, and serene elements. She yearns for the peace and stillness of a sleeping child and the beauty of blooming flowers. She also yearns for the joy of a returning ship and the warmth of hands clasping together. These symbols represent Bethânia's desire for her love to receive the purest and most gentle moments of life, to which she can solely give him access.
Bethânia ends the song with a plea and a warning, expressing her fear of losing her love to the cruel and harsh world. She asks him not to let the world taint him and to keep his purity intact, holding out hope that the beauty she longs to give him will arrive soon enough for her to behold him with the purest of eyes.
