When she was two years old, Maria Creuza moved with her family to El Salvador. As a teenager, she excelled as the singer of the group "Girls", which earned her an invitation to perform on radio programs. She recorded songs in English after being hired by a local label
In 1966, Creuza performed the song "Se Não Houvesse Maria" (composed by Antônio Carlos Pinto) at the festival "O Brasil Canta" ("Brazil Sings", from the now-defunct TV Excelsior). The following year, she sang "Festa no Terreiro de Alaketu" (also by Antônio Carlos) in the "III Festival de Música Popular Brasileira" (TV Record). That same year, she recorded the song and released a single that also included "Abolition" (Antônio Carlos). In 1969, the song "Mirante" (by Aldir Blanc and César Costa Filho) led to Creuza winning a first place award for Best Performer and third place in the "IV Festival Universitário Popular Song" in Rio de Janeiro. That year, Creuza performed "Catendê" (Antônio Carlos and Jocafi) in the "V Festival of Brazilian Popular Music" (TV Record).
In 1970, Creuza was invited by Vinícius de Moraes to join him for a tour of Uruguay (Punta del Este, with Dorival Caymmi) and Argentina (Mar del Plata, with Toquinho). While in Argentina, Crueze, de Moraes, and Toquinho recorded the album "Vinícius En La Fusa com Maria Creuza e Toquinho", which is considered to be one of the best LPs of live Brazilian music.
Insensatez
Maria Creuza Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I must have seemed
When she told me that she loved me
How unmoved and cold
I must have seemed
When she told me so sincerely
Why she must have asked
Did I just turn and stare in icy silence
What can you say
When a love affair is over
Now she's gone away
And I'm alone
With a memory of her last look
Vague and drawn and sad
I see it still
All her heartbreak in that last look
How she must have asked
Could I just turn and stare in icy silence
What was I to do
What can one do
When a love affair is over
The song "Insensatez" by Maria Creuza speaks about the end of a love affair and the pain that lingers afterwards. The singer reflects on how insensitive they were when their lover expressed sincere affection towards them. They realize now how unmoved and cold they must have appeared at that moment. They were unable to express their own feelings and instead responded with icy silence. Now that the relationship has ended, the singer is left alone with memories of their lover's last look, which was full of heartbreak and sadness. The singer realizes that they were unable to do anything to salvage the relationship, even though they may have wanted to.
The lyrics of the song convey a sense of regret and longing for a lost love. The singer seems to recognize the mistakes they made in the past, and how it caused them to lose someone they cared for deeply. The song captures the emotions that many feel after a relationship ends, and the difficulty of moving on.

I see it still

All her heartbreak in that last look
That final expression revealed all of her anguish
How she must have asked

Lyrics:
A insensatez que você fez
Coração mais sem cuidado
Fez chorar de dor
O seu amor
Um amor tão delicado
Ah, porque você foi fraco assim
Assim tão desalmado
Ah, meu coração quem nunca amou
Não merece ser amado
Vai meu coração ouve a razão
Usa só sinceridade
Quem semeia vento, diz a razão
Colhe sempre tempestade
Vai, meu coração pede perdão
Perdão apaixonado
Vai porque quem não
Pede perdão
Não é nunca perdoado
Vai porque quem não
Pede perdão
Não é nunca perdoado

Lyrics (translation to English):
Ahh, senselessness
What have you done?
A careless heart
You caused your love to cry with pain
A so delicate love.
Ahh, why were you so weak like this?
In this heartless way!
Ahh, My Heart, one who never loved does not deserve to be loved!
Go on, My Heart, listen to reason! Use only sincerity!
One who sows wind, says reason, only reaps storm.
Go on, My Heart, ask for forgiveness! Passionate forgiveness!
Go on, My Heart, because one who does not ask for forgiveness, will never be forgiven.
Go on, My Heart, because one who does not ask for forgiveness, will never be forgiven.

Necedad
La locura que hiciste
Corazón más descuidado
Te hizo llorar de dolor
Su amor
Un amor tan delicado
Oh, ¿por qué estabas así de débil?
Tan cruel
Oh mi corazón que nunca amó
No mereces ser amado
Ve mi corazón escucha la razón
Solo usa la sinceridad
El que siembra viento dice la razón.
Siempre cosecha tormenta
Ve, mi corazón pide perdón
Perdon apasionado
Ve porque quien no
Pide perdón
Nunca es perdonado....

DESMITIFICANDO A ELIS REGINA E GAL COSTA. RESGATANDO A MARIA CREUZA.
