In the past, band members dressed in outlandish makeup and costumes, and engaged in intentionally shocking behavior both onstage and off. Their lyrics often received criticism for their anti-religious sentiment and references to sex, violence and drugs, while their live performances were frequently called offensive and obscene. On several occasions, protests and petitions led to the group being blocked from performing, with at least three US states passing legislation banning the group from performing at state-owned venues. They released a number of platinum-selling albums, including Antichrist Superstar (1996) and Mechanical Animals (1998). These albums, along with their highly stylized music videos and worldwide touring, brought public recognition to Marilyn Manson. In 1999, news media, infamously, falsely blamed the band for influencing the perpetrators of the Columbine High School massacre.
As this controversy began to wane throughout the 2000s, so did the band's mainstream popularity. Despite this, Jon Wiederhorn of MTV, in June 2003, referred to Marilyn Manson as "the only true artist today". Marilyn Manson is widely regarded as being one of the most iconic and controversial figures in rock music, with the band and its lead singer influencing numerous other groups and musicians, both in metal-associated acts and also in wider popular culture. VH1 ranked Marilyn Manson as the seventy-eighth best rock band on their 100 Great Artists of Hard Rock. They were inducted into the Kerrang! Hall of Fame in 2000, and have been nominated for four Grammy Awards. In the U.S., the band has seen ten of its releases debut in the top ten, including two number-one albums. Marilyn Manson have sold in excess of 50 million records worldwide.

Marilyn Manson Lyrics

When I'm upside down, upside down
You only say that you want me
When I'm upside down, upside down
I got you tied up and I love it
Tied up and I love it
Now, why would I set you free?
Now you're tied up, you love it
No lies now, I love it
I'm not being mean, I'm just being me
I got some feelings
But I try to hide what I reel in
I fuck every broken, crazy girl
Instead of hanging from my ceiling
So I keep my life for like
Keep my head loose
But nose is like a beehive
I'm dripping blood honey
I'm dripping blood honey, yeah
I got you tied up and I love it
Tied up and I love it
Now, why would I set you free?
Now you're tied up, you love it
No lies now, I love it
I'm not being mean, I'm just being me
You only say that you want me
When I'm upside down, upside down
You only say that you want me
When I'm upside down, upside down
I'm dripping blood honey
I'm dripping blood honey, yeah
I'm dripping blood honey
I'm dripping blood honey, yeah
You only say that you want me
When I'm upside down, upside down
You only say that you want me
When I'm upside down, upside down
You only say that you want me
When I'm upside down, upside down
You only say that you want me
When I'm upside down, upside down
The lyrics of Marilyn Manson's "Blood Honey" are a not-so-subtle expression of domination and submission in a relationship. The repetition of the phrase "You only say that you want me when I'm upside down" suggests that the singer's partner only desires them when they are in a submissive position. The lines "I got you tied up and I love it" and "Now you're tied up, you love it" further emphasize the theme of control and domination in the relationship. Despite this, the singer insists that they are not being mean, but merely being themselves.
The last stanza of the lyrics reveals a bit of vulnerability and self-deprecation in the singer's character. The line "I fuck every broken, crazy girl instead of hanging from my ceiling" suggests that the singer engages in risky and destructive behavior as a coping mechanism, rather than dealing with their own emotional issues. They describe their emotional state as "dripping blood honey", an evocative juxtaposition of sweet and dangerous imagery.
Overall, the lyrics of "Blood Honey" are dark, erotic, and unsettling, exploring themes of control, submission, and self-destructive behavior.

I can totally imagine this being the theme of Zig-Zag from the webcomic 'Sabrina Online'. It's so sexy, so it totally suits her.

I don't know how many times I've listed to the music of Mr. Manson. I own every album and still find new parts I never paid attention to before.
Every album has it's own little pearl. And I love them all.
BUT:
In my opinion this is the best song he wrote/performed yet.
You might say whatever you want on Mr. Mansons (lower) range of voice nowadays, his (maybe) useless try to still "shock" society (which is hard in these times), his attempts in art or his drunken performances. It's just human.
In my eyes he is a very sensitive person, with the need to get attention and express himself. Which isn't bad at all. Those persons are the most inspiring artists. Sadly most of them go a very tragic way. And I am happy Mr. Manson doesn't.
Mr. Manson/Warner, I wish you the best and hope you still enjoy creating music as I enjoy listening to it.

Lol and people say his music sucks now.
Manson's music is like fine wine now.

Suck coorporation
@kaylal9368
Frank Castle damn right!
@SergeantExtreme
It's the exact opposite. His music is actually good now. His music was trash previously, with the only reason why he gained notoriety was due to media attention. A great example being the song "The Beautiful People" which was a repetitive, generic, uninspired industrial grunge tune set to lazily written lyrics. I find "Heaven Upside Down" to be his ONLY good album.
