Feel the electricity when we met?
Did you feel so high thinking you could die?
It's nothing, don't say a word
The complicity of silence
Be a thief in us and a liar
And I'll be yours just for the night
And you feel it deep down to your core
And then the bottle of wine kicks in
And my every glass you want it even more
Remember the love, the name
That the city lures you, steals your sight
When the excited blues kicks in
By the morning light one big city
One big city and I'm alone
But I walk the streets like I own the streets
In this one big city
One big city like I'm a queen
Because nothing's never like it seems
And I wanna play make believe
And the adrenaline high kicks in
And you feel it deep down to your core
And then the bottle of wine kicks in
And my every glass you want it even more
Remember the love, the name
That the city lures you, steals your sight
When the excited blues kicks in
By the morning light
And the adrenaline high kicks in
Have you ever felt like this before?
And then the bottle of wine kicks in
And my every glass you want it even more
Remember the love, the name
That the city lures you, steals your sight
When the excited blues kicks in
I am yours just for the night
And the adrenaline high kicks in
And you feel it deep down to your core
And then the bottle of wine kicks in
And my every glass you want it even more
Remember the love, the name
That the city lures and steals your sight
When the excited blues kicks in
By the morning light
The lyrics of Marion Raven's song "Kicks In" depict the intense and intoxicating experience of meeting someone new and falling into a passionate and temporary connection. The singer is reflecting on the feelings of excitement and allure that come with a new encounter, questioning if the other person felt the same electric energy. The mention of feeling high to the point of thinking one could die indicates the overwhelming intensity of the emotions involved.
The lyrics emphasize the power of silence and unspoken understanding between the two individuals, hinting at a sense of secrecy and shared complicity. The idea of being a "thief" and a "liar" suggests a sense of rebellion and breaking societal norms in pursuit of this temporary connection. The singer expresses a willingness to give themselves fully to the moment, being 'yours just for the night.'
The chorus describes the rush of adrenaline and the intoxicating effects of wine, paralleling these physical sensations with the emotional intensity of the experience. The mention of the city acting as a seductive and mesmerizing force that captures one's attention adds a layer of escapism and fantasy to the narrative. The singer immerses themselves in the allure of the urban landscape, feeling empowered and free despite being alone.
As the song progresses, the repetition of the chorus highlights the cyclical nature of this intense connection and the addictive quality of the emotions involved. The singer questions if the other person has ever felt this way before, implying a sense of longing and nostalgia for the fleeting moments shared. The excitement and blues of the morning light symbolize the contrast between the dazzling nightlife and the sobering reality of daybreak, emphasizing the ephemeral nature of the connection. Ultimately, the lyrics capture the bittersweet and transient nature of passion and longing in a big city setting, where fantasy and reality intertwine in a whirlwind of emotions.
