Addó' sta nennélla mia...
Non fermarte pe' la via
Vola, zompa a chella llá...
Co' li scelle,
La saluta...
Falle festa,
Attuorno attuorno...
E ll'hê 'a dí
Ca, notte e ghiuorno,
Io stó' sempe,
Io stó' sempe
A sospirá...
Palummella, vola vola
A la rosa de 'sto core...
Non ce sta cchiù bello sciore
Che t'avesse da piacé...
'A ll'addore,
Ca tu siente...
'a chill'uocchie,
'a chill'uocchie,
'a chillo riso...
Credarraje,
Ca, 'mparaviso,
Tu si' ghiuta...
Tu si' ghiuta...
Oje palummé'!
A lu labbro curallino,
Palummé' va' zompa e vola...
'ncopp'a chillo te cunzola
E maje cchiù non te partí!...
Ma si vide
Ca s'addorme...
E te vène,
E te vène,
Lo tantillo...
Tu ll'azzecca
No vasillo...
E pe' me,
E pe' me,
N'auto porzí!
Palummella is an emotional love song in which the singer expresses his admiration and unyielding love for his beloved. The imagery of the dove - Palummella - is used as a symbol of both the singer's longing and his beloved's beauty. The first verse describes the bird flying and jumping over places, searching for the singer's beloved. The singer implores the dove not to stop on his way but to continue until he finds her. In the second verse, the dove reaches the singer's beloved as he salutes her with kisses and becomes immersed in her presence. The singer tells his dove that he is always thinking of her and sighing in his longing for her.
The chorus reaffirms the dove's mission to convey the singer's love to his beloved, who is the most beautiful woman in the world, according to him. The third verse describes the dove landing on the lover's lips as a symbol of their passionate kiss. The singer pleads with the dove never to leave his beloved's side. In the final verse, the dove falls asleep, and the singer offers him another olive branch to carry a message of love to his beloved. The underlying sentiment in this song is that love can outlast distance, time, and even death because it is a strong and powerful bond that cannot be broken.

Palummella, zompa e vola
Little dove, hop and fly

Fly, hop over there...

With the reins,

That night and day
Io stó' sempe,

Oh little dove!
A lu labbro curallino,
To the coral lips,
Palummé' va' zompa e vola...
Little dove goes hopping and flying...

On that he teases you
E maje cchiù non te partí!...
And never leave you again!...
Ma si vide
But he saw that
Ca s'addorme...
He falls asleep...
E te vène,
And you come,
E te vène,
And you come,
Lo tantillo...
The little one...
Tu ll'azzecca
You hit him
No vasillo...
No glass...
E pe' me,
And for me,
E pe' me,
And for me,
