I agree. I remember when it came out. I was so happy it they were back to being heavy. Sure it doesnt have much replay value 10 years later but it does have some good songs. And when you watch Some Kind of Monster, you appreciate it for what it is.

Side note: the "live" DVD version is better than the album sound.

Yeah the replay value isn't as high many of their other albums now, I only really include frantic, st anger, some kind of monster and invisible kid in my Metallica playlist. Unfortunately I was introduced to Metallica only 7 years ago! So i can't truly appreciate their revitalized passion in st anger.

It is different to their other albums, it is a new angle from Metallica, it provides a raw and brutal sound. Bob Rock had a note-worthy impact on this album, and Rob came in here as well. I understand it is down to personal taste, and while most of Metallica's other albums are better, I'm saying St Anger isn't bad. Besides, have you seen Some Kind of Monster? Watch it and then listen to the album again, if you'd like.

Time to be a necromancer. Rob didn't come in until the album was done being written. I get what the point of what this album is but, that doesn't change the fact it sounds like trash. Emotional lyrics doesn't justify horrible production.

Actually, the guy who made this is a great singer, the terrible singing here is entirely for the sake of parody (note the line "and boy it sounds raw to intentionally sing out of key"). He's the creative force behind a Christian metal band called Theocracy, Both of their albums are amazing, and the first was actually a one-man project created entirely by him, Check out their Christmas joke song Rudolph Vs. I Agree it was not there best musicaly( best is ajfa) but if you watch the some kind of monster doc you'll understand. And no I won't drop the metal. I love there 80s stuff more but this isn't a bad album. Lulu was worse,
