It was during his first year of college, that Matthew began playing guitar and writing songs. By Matthew's senior year, he was playing at every venue imaginable, from Fraternity houses to churches, and youth groups.
He signed an exclusive songwriting deal only a week after graduating and making the move to Nashville. His songs have been recorded by various artists including Rachel Lampa's most recent single, "Savior Song," which was Matthew's first top-5 song as a writer. Some other highlights were having songs placed on the platinum selling WoW 2002 project and also having his song, "Heart of Every Man recorded for the World Youth Day 2000 official soundtrack.
Matthew continued pursuing his dream of singing his own songs. Matthew had the opportunity to travel to universities across the country, and quickly began building up a steady following. With the help of Word Music and Extreme Writers Group, Matthew recorded an independent CD called, "Sellout," which caught the attention of Universal South Records.
Since signing with Universal South, He has released several albums, starting with "Happy" in 2003, "History" in 2005, and "Something to Say" in 2007; along with the re-release of Sellout in 2006. The Forgiveness Songfacts reports that West's fifth album, "Into the Light," is scheduled to be released on September 25, 2012.
Live Forever

Make 'em count, make 'em matter
Make it now, live forever
Is this all there is?
Seconds and minutes and hours and days?
That's all we get and when it ends
Do we faint like the flowers they put on our graves
Between the numbers that fate will decide
Is true that nothing lasts
Or is there a way to outlive my life?
I don't wanna live for now
I don't wanna live for now
I wanna live forever
I wanna live forever
I just wanna make it count
I don't wanna live for now
I wanna live forever
I wanna live forever starting now
86,400 seconds
Make 'em count, make 'em matter
Make it now, live forever
They say you get one life
Go on, do whatever feels right
There's no consequence
Here and now is all that counts
But I know this is not as good as it gets
There's more to life than what my eyes can see
I want my song to sing for eternity
I wanna live like I know the life
That waits for me is something heavenly
I don't wanna live for now
I don't wanna live for now
I wanna live forever
I wanna live forever
I just wanna make it count
I don't wanna live for now
I wanna live forever
I wanna live forever starting now
Gotta keep my eyes on the prize
There ain't no change in my mind
More than a moment in time
I'm gonna live, live forever
I know I'm just passing through
To the other side of the blue
This world's got nothing on you
I'm gonna live, live forever
I don't wanna live for now
I don't wanna live for now
I wanna live forever
I wanna live forever
I just wanna make it count
I don't wanna live for now
I wanna live forever
I wanna live forever starting now
86,400 seconds, 86,400 seconds, 86,400 seconds
Make 'em count, make 'em matter
Make it now, live forever [x2]
The song Live Forever by Matthew West is a message about the significance of every single moment in life. The chorus of the song repeatedly mentions the number of seconds in a day: "86,400 seconds, make 'em count, make 'em matter, make it now, live forever." The lyrics are a way of reminding us how precious time is and how important it is to live in the present moment. The second verse of the song talks about how life can sometimes seem overwhelming and fleeting, but there is always a way to make a lasting impression. The lyrics encourage listeners to believe that there is more to life than what the eye can see and to live with the hope that the life waiting for us is something heavenly.
Throughout the song, West challenges the idea that we should simply live for "the moment" and that "here and now is all that counts." He reminds us that life is more than just a fleeting experience and that we should strive to create a legacy that will last beyond our earthly existence. He ultimately concludes that the way to "live forever" is to make every moment count and to live a life with purpose.
Overall, Live Forever is a powerful and inspiring song about living life to the fullest and making the most of every moment. It encourages listeners to focus on what truly matters in life and to live with the hope that there is something beyond this life to look forward to.

Hey Matthew West thank you for your inspirational music! I have been trying to find a song that you played at soulfest 2017 in New Hampshire that you sang for someone who requested it. Something about hearing the truth through the television. Thanks. God Bless.
