In the spring of 2008, Matthew & the Judes released their debut EP “Where On Earth” and promptly sold out of the printed copies. Today the EP is available on several music distribution networks including iTunes, Napster, and Amazon. In his review of “Where On Earth” for absolutepunk.net Greg Robson writes,
“...the album is a towering triumph of the indie pop variety. Album opener “Waves” only has three lines of verses before it segues into a sea of chiming, orchestral beauty. It’s the kind of song to listen to when busting open the doors to greet a warm, summer morning. One can almost visualize the Pixar scene unfolding as the trumpet wails, an acoustic guitar strums and a flourish of melodious grandeur ensues. Truth be told, of all the songs that have come across my desk so far this year, few have an album opener as triumphant or cheery as "Waves."
In early 2009 the group went back into the studio to record material for the upcoming full-length “A Happy Medium” set for release in the summer of this year. The sound is a mixture of traditional rock instrumentation with lush orchestration including horns, strings, and vocal harmonies. Several guest vocalists appear on the album, including Thomas Dutton of Forgive Durden.
In support of the new songs, the band has played several shows and developed a fan base in the State College, Harrisburg, and Philadelphia areas and have shared a stage with several nationally touring artists such as Margot & the Nuclear So and So's, Ace Enders and a Million Different People, and Good Old War.

And that’s the truth
Some say I could be stronger
But I won’t take it no longer
How many times
I’ve touched upon the line
But I ain’t pushing anymore
Cause I know it ain’t mine
But let’s face it
I’m vindicated
And history’s right behind
‘Cause God is dead
And his damage can’t spread
I’m still hurt
But in time
In time I’ll learn
There is nothing to prove
And that’s the truth
Some say I could be stronger
But I won’t take it no longer
Where is it made?
The courage of our shade
That’s deserving of pride
I suppose it’s always been there
But deceived into being scared
This process won’t be fast
But I will surpass this past time
Although I will have needs
There challenge I will exceed
I’m still hurt
But in time
In time I’ll learn
There is nothing to prove
And that’s the truth
Some say I could be stronger
But I won’t take it no longer
There is nothing to prove
And that’s the truth
I am what I am
And I’ll do all that I can
The song "Streets" by Matthew and the Judes presents the story of an unnamed woman who feels stuck in a place she doesn't belong. The singer describes her thoughts as she wonders how she ended up in her current situation, dreaming of a life as a beautiful princess. She prays to God for a way out, but feels her prayers fall on deaf ears, and realizes she must rely on herself to escape her dead-end corner of the world.
The woman's story is a universal one; we have all felt stuck at some point in our lives, wondering how we got there and how to make a change. The lyrics are poignant and relatable, capturing the feelings of helplessness and frustration that often accompany these experiences.
The song also touches on themes of self-reliance, as the woman recognizes that no one else will lift her up, and she must take control of her life to make a change. It encourages listeners to reach for the sunlight and hold on tight until they find what they're looking for.
Overall, "Streets" is a powerful song that speaks to the human experience of feeling lost, stuck, and uncertain about the future.

Jude is a thoughtful, reflective piece of work. It conveys the mood & concerns this Artist has in his life. Sometimes, having a reflective piece is what is needed.

You're right Mark, it's a good album. But not one I'll play too often. Cheers Matt
@maccaphotos
Most of the songs were recorded over a 30-year period. Julian's manager I believe found a box of tapes and discs of songs that were never released and gave them to Julian, and they mixed and added some drums and guitar and also some vocals to beef it up. Not a bad album at all, I quite enjoyed it. I have the same vinyl as you do with the autograph that is a nice touch.
@matthewstreet1961
Thanks for the great info Harry! I appreciate it! Yeah, agreed, it's a good album. Just not one I'll listen to much. Too mellow and sleepy for me. Cheers Matt
@allanc.records8484
Nice review Matt, I enjoyed your thorough descriptions of the songs! Doesn't sound like I would really like it overall because of the mellow flavor. I enjoy albums that have a least a few rockin tunes! 🍻 Allan
@matthewstreet1961
You're right Allan. Although it's a fab album, Julian needs to rock more. It's a bit to sleepy and mellow for me. Have a great weekend! Cheers Matt

Yeah he has great stuff, I appreciate his music. And yes, this one is well done...but not one I'll throw on a lot. Too sleepy for me...I'd rather listen to The Rubinoos, know what I mean? Ha! Or The Midnight Callers! Cheers Matt
