With the work hard, play hard, do whatever it takes to spread your music philosophy that most young bands need to have these days, the band took to the road and started winning over kids not just in Florida, but across the country. Mayday Parade was consistently in the top 30 unsigned artists on MySpace. They've consolidated over 50,000 friends and growing and have totaled over 2.4 Million plays. With labels hot on their tail, Mayday Parade decided that Fearless Records was the one for them and signed at the end of the summer 2006.
They then released their first professional record, A Lesson In Romantics, in 2007. Shortly after, one of the lead singers/vocalist Jason Lancaster ( lead guitarist/vocalist of Kid Named Chicago) left the band over a songwriting dispute. He then started his own band, Go Radio. There are no hard feelings between the two bands, although Lancaster later commented, "I wish it could have gone down differently."
In 2009, the band released their second album and first without Lancaster, Anywhere But Here.
Mayday Parade's live show also conveys their personality by assuring that they are intensely full of life. The band knows how to put on an engaging show with five energetic members. There's no escaping the energy that Mayday Parade brings. They're all over the stage, making sure the audience goes home happy and wanting more. They love to get the crowd engaged!
In 2011, the band released their third, self titled album.

That I never should have taken in the first place
And it's cold in my apartment
As I'm changing all the colors
From the brightest reds to grays
Well it's three o'clock on Monday morning
I'm just hoping you're not seeing his face
Long enough to know that it was him
That took my place
And I hope this makes you happy now
That the flame we had is burning out
And I hope you like your pictures facing down
As even broken hearts may have their doubts
And I'm burning all the letters
Hoping that I might forget her and her bad taste
That she left when she was leaving me
A life of barely breathing as she walked
Out of this place
And you dropped the note and we changed key
You changed yourself and I changed me
I really didn't see us singing through this
Then you screamed the bridge
And I cried the verse
And our chorus came out unrehearsed
And you smiled the whole way through it
I guess maybe that's what's worse
And I hope this makes you happy now
That the flame we had is burning out
And I hope you like your pictures facing down
As even broken hearts may have their doubts
And I'm taking all your memories off the shelf
And I don't need you or anybody else
So take a look at me
See what you want to see
When you get home
Take me home
I'd rather die than be with you
Take me home
You have a problem with the truth
Take me home
Because this happens every time
I knew it would
I knew it would
Take me home
I'd rather die than be with you
Take me home
You have a problem with the truth
Take me home
Because this happens every time
And I knew it would
I knew it would
And I hope this makes you happy now
That the flame we had is burning out
And I hope you like your pictures facing down
As even broken hearts may have their doubts
And I'm taking all your memories off the shelf
And I don't need you or anybody else
So take a look at me
See what you want to see
When you get home
The opening lines of Mayday Parade's "If You Wanted A Song Written About You All You Had To Do Was Ask" suggest the singer's need for closure following the end of a relationship. The lyrics describe the singer disposing of photographs and mementos that remind them of a past lover, attempting to erase any tangible reminders of their failed romance. The chorus expresses bitterness towards the ex-partner, wishing them ill and hoping that they will be unhappy without the singer in their life. The final verse describes a broken-down past relationship through a metaphor of writing a song, culminating in the singer renouncing all possessions of their ex in a declaration that they don't need anyone but themselves.
Throughout the song, there are hints of both regret and resentment. The singer shows regret by admitting that they still harbor emotions for their former partner, despite wanting to move on. However, there is also resentment towards their partner for supposedly moving on with someone else quickly. The song's lyrics show that the singer is struggling to come to terms with the end of the relationship and the betrayal they feel. Still, ultimately, they resolve to start anew and move on without any memories of their past partner.

I'm throwing away pictures
I'm getting rid of physical reminders of our relationship
That I never should have taken in the first place
That I regret taking because they bring up painful memories
And it's cold in my apartment
I'm feeling emotionally empty
As I'm changing all the colors
As I'm making a deliberate effort to distance myself from you
From the brightest reds to grays
From the passionate feelings I had for you to a more subdued and melancholy mood
Well it's three o'clock on Monday morning
I'm feeling anxious and restless
I'm just hoping you're not seeing his face
I'm hoping you're not with someone else right now
I've been getting calls in these hotel rooms
I'm traveling and feeling lonely
Long enough to know that it was him
Long enough to know that someone else has taken my place in your heart
That took my place
That replaced me in your life
And I hope this makes you happy now
I hope you're satisfied with your decision to end our relationship
That the flame we had is burning out
That the love we had is fading away
And I hope you like your pictures facing down
I hope these photos that you used to cherish cause you pain now
As even broken hearts may have their doubts
Even though we're not together, I still have doubts about whether leaving me was the right decision
And I'm burning all the letters
I'm destroying any written communication between us
Hoping that I might forget her and her bad taste
Hoping that I can erase the memory of you and the hurt you caused me
That she left when she was leaving me
That you left me when you decided to end things
A life of barely breathing as she walked
A life of barely being able to cope as you left me
Out of this place
Out of my life
And you dropped the note and we changed key
Our relationship changed unexpectedly
You changed yourself and I changed me
We both became different people and we grew apart
I really didn't see us singing through this
I never thought our relationship would end in such a painful way
Then you screamed the bridge
You caused a scene and made things worse
And I cried the verse
I was deeply hurt by what you did
And our chorus came out unrehearsed
Our relationship fell apart in a chaotic and uncontrolled way
And you smiled the whole way through it
You seemed happy even though you were causing me pain
I guess maybe that's what's worse
The fact that you were able to hurt me and still be happy about it is the worst thing of all
And I'm taking all your memories off the shelf
I'm removing any reminders of you from my life
And I don't need you or anybody else
I'm learning to be happy on my own
So take a look at me
I don't need your approval or validation
See what you want to see
You can perceive me however you want
When you get home
But I'll be moving on without you
Take me home
I want to leave this situation and go somewhere else
I'd rather die than be with you
I'd rather risk everything than stay in a toxic relationship
You have a problem with the truth
You're dishonest and untrustworthy
Because this happens every time
Our relationship always ends badly
I knew it would
I always knew we were doomed from the start

My favorite part:
You dropped a note and we changed key
You changed yourself and I changed me
I really didn’t see us singing through this
Then you screamed the bridge and I cried the verse and our chorus came out unrehearsed
And you smiled the whole way through it
I guess that maybe that’s what’s worse
