After the commercial success of Bat Out of Hell and Bat Out of Hell II: Back Into Hell, and earning a Grammy Award for Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance for the song "I'd Do Anything for Love (But I Won't Do That)", Meat Loaf nevertheless experienced some difficulty establishing a steady career within the United States. The key to this success was his popularity in Europe, especially in the United Kingdom and Ireland. He received the 1994 Brit Award in the United Kingdom for best-selling album and single. He appeared in the 1997 film Spice World and he ranked 23rd for the number of weeks spent on the UK charts in 2006. He ranks 96th on VH1's "100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock". Meat Loaf appeared in over 50 films and television shows, sometimes as himself or as characters resembling his stage persona. His film roles include Eddie in The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975) and Robert Paulsen in Fight Club (1999). His early stage work included dual roles in the original Broadway cast of The Rocky Horror Show. He also appeared in the musical Hair, both on and Off-Broadway.

Not A Dry Eye In The House
Meat Loaf Lyrics

After love's curtain comes down
Listen and you'll hear the sound
Hear the sound of a heart breaking
I can still see you standing there
Midnight wind blowin' thorough your hair, remember
Kisses sweet in the salty air
Turn the page and we fade to blue
The scene has changed now I'm without you
Well, you just walked away when the act was through
And the dream was over
It was almost like a movie, the way you said goodbye
You must have spent a lot of time, rehearsing each and every line
Now there's not a dry eye in the house
After love's curtain comes down
Listen and you'll hear the sound
Hear the sound of a heart breaking, breaking
Not a smile left on my face
The ending's just too sad to take
And there's not a dry eye, not a dry eye in the house
The greatest story was you and me
We had it all, we had everything
But now the story's done, it's just history
The last act is over
Your every line had the sweetest sound
Your every touch turned my whole world around
But then the lights came up and my world crashed down
End of show,iit's over
It was almost like a movie, those nights we touched the stars
Time stood still for you and i, now it's sad enough to make you cry
And there's not a dry eye in the house
After love's curtain comes down
Listen and you'll hear the sound
Hear the sound of a heart breaking, breaking
Not a smile left on my face
The ending's just too sad to take
And there's not a dry eye, not a dry eye in the house
Act One
The story's just begun
Act Two
I fell in love with you
Act Three
Knew it was meant to be
Act Four
You don't love me no more
Not a dry eye in the house
After love's curtain comes down
Listen and you'll hear the sound
Hear the sound of a heart breaking, breaking
Not a smile left on my face
The ending's just too sad to take
And there's not a dry eye, not a dry eye
Not a dry eye in the house
After love's curtain comes down
Listen and you'll hear the sound
Hear the sound of a heart breaking, breaking
Not a dry eye in the house
Not a dry eye in the house
Not a dry eye in the house
The lyrics to Meat Loaf's song "Not A Dry Eye In The House" tell the story of a break-up and the aftermath of a failed relationship. The opening lines set the tone, describing the emotional impact of love's curtain coming down, with the sound of a heart breaking causing everyone to cry. The lyrics then vividly remember a time when the relationship was at its best, with images of the midnight wind blowing through hair, sweet kisses in the salty air, and love that was meant to last forever. As the song progresses, the lyrics describe the break-up and the pain felt by the two people involved, highlighting the sadness of the ending, with not a smile left on the singer's face. The song ends on a melancholy note, with the final lines repeating the heart-breaking message of the beginning.
The song is a classic embodiment of Meat Loaf's power as a singer, with the emotional intensity of his voice driving home the pain of the lyrics. The story told in the song is one that many people can relate to, particularly those who have experienced the end of a once-great love affair. The lyrics are masterfully written, painting a vivid picture of the ups and downs of a relationship that has come to an end.

'not a dry eye in the house' perfectly apt way of describing the situation at mine when I found out he'd passed. His songs have meant so much to me over the past 27 years, I will continue to listen to them for decades to come.

Soooooo sad, most grew up with songs,
Tonight will be “ meat loaf “ music… sure lots of tears too. Beautiful song
@S4INTW4RRIOR
@@lcfc777 Quite, bit airy fairy for a grown man to admit but I've already had a good cry, also kind of sad to say it feels like a family member has passed, but that's how I feel.

I've been a Meat Loaf fan since I got Bat Out of Hell II when I was 11 (I'm 39 now). I was just getting ready for bed when I saw that he died. I'm not getting any sleep tonight as I've been listening to my albums and YouTube videos, while trying to hold back the tears.
Him and Jim Steinman are hands down my favorite singer/songwriter combo. Those two were so perfect for each other.
@MsSafisana
