Shortly before graduating from Carnegie Mellon, Hilty auditioned for the part of Glinda in the hit musical, Wicked. After graduating, she moved to New York City, and in mid-2004, she made her Broadway debut in the show. She originally served as the standby for Jennifer Laura Thompson before taking over the principal role on May 31, 2005. She played Glinda for a year, ending her run on May 28, 2006, having been replaced by Kate Reinders, the original Glinda in the Chicago production of Wicked.
Hilty recently starred in a musical called Vanities at the Mountain View Center for the Performing Arts in Mountain View with TheatreWorks. She reprised her role as Glinda in the national tour of Wicked from September to December 2006, for a 4-month stint in the Portland, Oregon and Seattle stops, as well as the Toronto stop alongside former Broadway co-star Shoshana Bean. She is currently playing Glinda again alongside former co-star, Eden Espinosa, in the open-ended Los Angeles production of Wicked. Her contract is active until November 2007.
In January 2007, it was announced that Hilty was cast in the role of Doralee Rhodes in the reading for a musical based on the 1980s workplace comedy 9 to 5. Official casting for the show has not been announced. [1]
Megan guest starred on The Suite Life of Zack and Cody as Enid on August 5, 2007. She also did the singing voice of Snow White in Shrek the Third.
Megan Hilty has a very large vocal range, and may be considered a whistle register singer, as she hits a high E in "No One Mourns the Wicked", and the optional F6 in "Thank Goodness" during her performances of Wicked.
Diamonds are a girl's best friend

They delight in fighting duels
But I prefer a man who lives
And gives expensive jewels
A kiss on the hand
May be quite continental
But diamonds are a girl′s best friend
But it won't pay the rental
On your humble flat
Or help you at the automat.
Men grow cold
As girls grow old
And we all lose our charms in the end
But square-cut or pear-shaped
These rocks don′t loose their shape
Diamonds are a girl's best friend
Romance is divine and I'm not one to knock it
But diamonds are a girls best friend
Romance is divine, yes, but where can you hack it when the flame is gone
Just try and pawn a tired done one
Some men buy and some just sigh
That to make you their bride they intend
But buyers or sighers they′re such goddamn liars
Diamonds are a girls best friend
There may come a time
When a lass needs a lawyer,
But diamonds are a girl′s best friend.
There may come a time
When a hard-boiled employer
Thinks you're awful nice
But get that ice or else no dice
He′s your guy
When stocks are high
But beware when they start to descend
It's then that those louses
Go back to their spouses
Diamonds are a girl′s best friend
The song "Diamonds are a girl's best friend" sung by Megan Hilty is a classic that reflects the belief of the era that diamonds are a woman's ultimate dream. The song contrasts the feelings of love and materialism, showing how the latter is the key to a long-lasting relationship. The opening lines of the song describe the French's love for dueling and dying for love, while the singer prefers a man who is alive and can afford to give her expensive jewels. The next set of lyrics contrast a kiss on the hand, a romantic gesture, to the practicality of diamonds, indicating that diamonds are not just a luxury but an investment.
The song highlights the idea that as men grow old, they become less interested in their partners, and women become less charming; however, the diamonds remain constant. The chorus builds on this idea, as the singer insists that diamonds never lose their shape. The second verse of the song explores the idea that true love is not a protector of a woman's financial stability, unlike diamonds, which hold their value. The song ends with a stark reminder that a man's love is not permanent and that he will leave when the stocks begin to decline, whereas diamonds will always stay loyal.
