(M. Beckman /O.Valeskog)
1.
He could easily love her to pieces
But she’s already broken
Even try to be perfect to please her
Days and days become the years
They slowly fade
Chorus
And she wants to be alone
Wants to figure out her life
Yeah she wants to be alone
in her own space and time
2.
Behind his eyes there hides an ocean
Those tears will never wake
And as her mystery releases
The sadness of his weary state
Days and days become the years
They slowly fade
Chorus
3.
And so the morning sun arises
the memory of a man remains
The taste of love was just a token
Among the shadow of her faith
Chorus
Days and days became the years to slowly fade
And now she really is alone
She has to figure out her life
Yeah she really is alone
With her own space and time
The lyrics of Meja's song "Space and Time" convey a poignant tale of a relationship that is marred by emotional distance and unfulfilled love. In the first verse, the singer describes a situation where one person is willing to love the other immensely, even trying to be perfect, but the other person is already broken and not open to receiving that love. Despite attempts to please and connect, the person in need of healing is not interested in friendship. As time passes, the connection between them fades, illustrating the gradual dissolution of their relationship.
The chorus captures the desire of the broken individual to be alone, to introspect and find their own path in life. They yearn for solitude in their own space and time, away from the expectations and pressure of relationships. This longing for isolation reflects a deep need for self-discovery and healing, suggesting that the individual has to confront their inner demons and emotional wounds on their own.
In the second verse, the focus shifts to the other person in the relationship, who is portrayed as carrying a profound sadness and a hidden depth of emotion behind their eyes. Despite their efforts to understand and support their partner, the mystery surrounding the broken individual only adds to the weight of their own weariness. The passage of time continues to take its toll on them, emphasizing the slow unraveling of their emotional connection.
As the lyrics progress, the imagery shifts to a scene where the morning sun rises, symbolizing hope and renewal. However, the memory of the man in the broken individual's life lingers, serving as a reminder of the fleeting nature of their love. The taste of love is described as merely a token, overshadowed by the doubts and uncertainties of the broken individual's faith. Ultimately, the broken individual finds themselves truly alone, faced with the daunting task of navigating their life independently in their own space and time.
In conclusion, Meja's "Space and Time" delves into themes of emotional distance, unrequited love, and the complexities of personal growth and self-discovery. The lyrics paint a vivid picture of two individuals struggling to connect and find solace in a relationship marred by internal conflicts and unspoken feelings. The longing for solitude, introspection, and individual growth resonates throughout the song, highlighting the transformative power of self-reflection and the importance of finding one's own path in life, even if it means walking away from a relationship.
