1. An Aust… Read Full Bio ↴There are at least two bands and an artist named Memento:
1. An Australian alternative metal band.
2. A Serbian alternative rock band from Belgrade.
3. An Italian singer and songwriter
Further information:
1) Formed in 2001, Memento was comprised of Australian natives in vocalist/keyboardist Justin Stewart Cotta, guitarist Space, bassist Leighton Kearns, and American drummer Steve Clark.
The band released their debut album Beginnings on February 25, 2003. Two singles were released from the album in "Nothing Sacred" and "Saviour", and a music video for "Coming" was produced as well. Both "Nothing Sacred" and "Saviour" made a moderate impact on the US mainstream rock charts. Memento was also part of the 2003 Ozzfest tour as a rotating second stage act.
Due to personal conflicts amongst the band members, as well as record label issues, the band was dissolved in late 2004. The band's guitarist would then go on to form the contemporary alternative indie duo Digital Daggers with vocalist Andrea Wasse.
3) Born in 2002 in Lombardy, Memento (real name Andrea) grew up listening to Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd. He enrolled in the musical address, where he began his guitar studies at the age of 11: here his love for music flourishes, which he continues to cultivate over time, from the bedroom to social centers, where he plays for various projects.
The chapter "Memento" opens about two years ago: the song "Non Mi Manchi" testifies to the change taking place. "Non ti conosco" (I don't know you) - track released in June 2020 within the album "HANAMI" - marks the entrance of Memento on the Asian Fake roster. In 2020 his debut EP "Memento Non Ha Paura Del Buio" (Memento Is Not Afraid Of Dark) is released for Asian Fake, containing the single Tu Non Lo Sai (You Don't Know), a collaboration with Rodrigo DβErasmo. In July 2021 he publishes the Oceano / Vipera project, in which he addresses the theme of loneliness, two tracks produced respectively by Mr. Monkey and Amanda Lean & not for climbing. In May 2022 he released his debut album ACQUADOLCE (Softwater)
Nothing Sacred
Memento Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I knew I'd have to face you
The color of my bites
Yes they remind me of you
In your blood I write
I am not afraid
This is who I am
I do not kneel
All I'm asking
Is nothing sacred anymore?
Sailing through the flood
Why did he keep two of you
Splinter in your mind's eye
My Phoenix rises to swoop
Still floating in the gray water of your womb
Take the edge of my thumbs
Bury the nails deep into your eyes
Maybe then you'll see my light
I'd rather crawl, drooling with the beggars
They've got more to say
The lyrics of Memento's "Nothing Sacred" convey the emotional and psychological aftermath of an abusive relationship. The first two lines, "Since water of the womb, I knew I'd have to face you," suggest that the singer was destined to confront their abuser from an early age, and the reference to "the color of my bites" implies that physical violence was part of the abuse. However, the singer asserts their strength and determination to break free from the cycle of abuse by declaring, "In your blood I write, I am not afraid. This is who I am and I will never be like you." This line is particularly powerful as it suggests that the abuser's presence is ingrained in the singer, but they refuse to let it define them.
The chorus of the song, "All I'm asking is nothing sacred anymore? Sailing through the flood," reflects the singer's disillusionment and sense of loss in the wake of the abuse. They are questioning the sanctity of their relationship and every other relation, indicating that the trauma has left them with a profound sense of mistrust and difficulty in forming new connections. The line "Sailing through the flood" could be interpreted as a desire to move forward or a sense of being overwhelmed by emotion.
Some potential interpretations of the rest of "Nothing Sacred" are more abstract, but it seems clear that the song is a powerful expression of the pain, anger, and strength experienced by survivors of abuse.

I found this song by accident while going through late 90s to early 2000s rock and metal songs. And since Iβve been listening to this every once in a while itβs like the original version of 3rd Strikes song redemption. Rest in piece to the frontman he died of some illness way back in 2010.

The band had record label issues and/or personal conflicts, and therefore dissolved. I love this band. This music video is crazy and the band is highly energetic, especially the lead singer.
