Unto the King Eternal
Unto the Lord Immortal
Unto the God Invisible
You alone are wise
Chorus:
All Glory and Honor
All Glory and Honor
Forever to You, my King Eternal
To You my King Eternal
To You my King Eternal
Bridge:
You alone are wise
You alone are my King Eternal
You alone are wise
You alone are my King Eternal
The lyrics of "King Eternal" by MercyMe direct all glory and honor to God alone, acknowledging His eternal and immortal nature. The song's title "King Eternal" is a reference to one of the titles of God in the Bible. The opening lines of the song, "Unto the King Eternal, unto the Lord Immortal, unto the God Invisible," are taken almost verbatim from 1 Timothy 1:17, where the Apostle Paul uses them to describe God. The song focuses on God's wisdom and His sovereignty as the only true King of all.
The chorus of the song repeats the phrase "All Glory and Honor forever to you, oh God" to show that everything belongs to God and that He deserves all glory and honor. The bridge affirms that God alone is wise and the only true King Eternal. This song is a beautiful expression of worship, declaring God's majesty and authority.
