Messiah (UK band):
Formed in 1988 during London's acid house craze by college friends Ali Ghani and Mark Davies, Messiah's brand of rave techno encompasses the aggression and volume of punk and the diva vocals of house music. When Ghani and Davies met at an Iggy Pop concert, the two decided to purchase some electronic equipment and make music for fun; when musical chemistry became evident, they began to get into the English techno and rave scene. After the release of 1993's Temple of Dreams, their first full-length U.S. album, 21st Century Jesus, was released one year later. Messiah Meets Progenitor followed in 1998 and saw a fairly dramatic shift in style. The introduction of guitars into the mix pushed their sound more towards that of Jesus Jones, Pop Will Eat Itself or later Prodigy.
Messiah (Swiss metal band):
Messiah is a death/thrash metal band from Switzerland. The band is best known for their first two full-length albums, Hymn to Abramelin and Extreme Cold Weather. Messiah's debut album, Hymn to Abramelin, was released in 1986 through Chainsaw Murder Records. Their sophomore LP, titled Extreme Cold Weather, came out in 1987 and was re-issued on CD three years later by Nuclear Blast. The release also contained the band's debut album. The band then managed to sign to a German major metal label, Noise Records, which released their next album, Choir of Horrors, in 1991. Messiah released two more albums, Rotten Perish and Underground, through Noise, but disbanded in the mid-1990's.
After a long break Messiah reunited, first to perform a few secret shows in 2017, but then decided to write new material in 2018, and released a new album in September 2020. Since 2018 also, they are back on stage and play live again. Their newest album Christus Hypercubus is set to be released on March 1, 2024.
Revelation Of Fire
Messiah Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
So strong within
Flames burning higher
Burns through my skin
Veiled I search the fulgency
But I dream eternally
Though I'm fire, no pain I feel
I feel no sorrow
Though I'm deceased
Joined with this new world
All is so real
I don't know what I will see
But I know that I feel free
I am dead, in a dream
Stop the time and let me sleep
Roaring landscapes of hell
I am one with the angels that fell
Lead me through fire and stones
To the temple with bricks made of bones
The lyrics of Messiah's "Revelation of Fire" capture the intensity and passion of a person who has been consumed by the fire within. The first verse talks about "breeding the fire" that is "so strong within," and how it burns through the skin, implying that it's not just an inner fire, but an external reality as well. The second verse speaks of a dream that is eternal, of being veiled while searching for the fulgency, and not feeling any pain though engulfed in flames. This portrays a sense of liberation, as if the physical world no longer has power over the person, and they are free to roam in the spiritual realm without any restrictions.
The third verse echoes the sentiment of death but with a twist. Though dead, the singer speaks of being joined with a new world where everything is real, and they don't feel any sorrow despite being deceased. The fourth and final verse paints a vivid picture of hellish landscapes and fallen angels, and how the singer is one with them. They are being led through fire and stones to a temple made of bones, thus beckoning the end of their journey. Overall, the song is a powerful and intense portrayal of a person's journey into the spiritual realm, where they become one with the fire that once consumed them.
