Finding his voice in a school choir, Crawford began his professional career still a teenager. Having some luck on the London stage in the early 60s, he then found his way onto the BBC and starred in various programmes such as 'Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em'. He also had film roles in 'The War Lover', 'A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum'. and 'How I Won the War' (which brought him into the same work as John Lennon).
Andrew Lloyd Webber's casting of him opposite Sarah Brightman and Steve Barton as the Phantom in 1986 shot his career into high gear. Winning a Tony Award for his role, Crawford also had the aforementioned tune, "The Music Of The Night", reach the British Top Ten. He has released several studio albums such as 'A Touch of Music in the Night' and 'On Eagle's Wings' among others.
What Are You Doing The Rest Of Your Life

In fields of dawn and forests of the night
And when you stand before the candles on a cake
Oh, let me be the one to hear the silent wish you make
What are you doing the rest of your life?
North and South and East and West of your life
I have only one request of your life
All the seasons and the times of your days
All the nickels and the dimes of your days
Let the reasons and the rhymes of your days
All begin and end with me
I want to see your face in every kind of light
In the fields of dawn and the forests of the night
And when you stand before the candles on a cake
Oh, let me be the one to hear the silent wish you make
Those tomorrows waiting deep in your eyes
In the world of love that you keep in your eyes
I'll awaken what's asleep in your eyes
It may take a kiss or two
Through all of my life
Summer, Winter, Spring, and Fall of my life
All I ever will recall of my life
Is all of my life with you
The song "What Are You Doing The Rest Of Your Life" by Michael Crawford is a romantic ballad about eternal love and commitment. The lyrics describe the singer's desire to be a part of his lover's life forever. He wants to see her in every kind of light - in the fields of dawn and the forests of the night - and to be the one to hear the silent wish she makes when she blows out the candles on her birthday. He asks her to spend all of her life with him, no matter where they go or what they do.
The second verse describes how the singer wants to be a part of every part of his lover's life. He wants to share all of the seasons and the times of her days, from the smallest details like nickels and dimes to the bigger reasons and rhymes. He wants to be there for every moment, good or bad, and to be the one who helps her awaken what's asleep in her eyes. The final verse is a declaration of the singer's commitment to his lover. He promises to be with her through all of his life, and all he will ever remember is his life spent with her.
Overall, the song is a beautiful testament to the power of love and the desire for commitment.
