The group was formed in 1988 by singer, songwriter, and keyboard player Jascha Richter (b. 1963) alongside drummer Kare Wanscher (b. 1969), guitarist and producer Mikkel Lentz (b. 1968), and Soren Madsen (b. 1967) in Aarhus, Denmark. The group now consists of three members, with the rest parting ways with Madsen. The group started as a little cafe band, but they soon won the annual talent contest in Aarhus in July 1988. MLTR signed with one of the judges, JP Andersen, as their new manager, and the group got a recording deal with Medley Records, who later became a part of EMI.
MLTR's eponymous first album hit the top 5 of the album charts in both Denmark and Norway, selling tens of thousands of copies over and over again. Since that international debut in September 1991, with 'Michael Learns To Rock' being a sensation, the group has sold more than 12 million legal albums, and it has been performing ever since. Their song catalog continues to be very popular as well, with many singles sold online. Since 'Michael Learns To Rock' came out, they have released 'Colours' (1993), 'Played on Pepper' (1995), 'Nothing to Lose' (1997), 'Michael Learns to Rock - Greatest Hits' (1999), 'Blue Night' (2000), 'Take Me to Your Heart' / 'Michael Learns to Rock' (2004), 'The Best Of Michael Learns To Rock – Live' (2007), and 'Eternity' (2008).
MLTR is one of the most popular bands in their homeland. Thanks to social media such as YouTube and Facebook, MLTR's fan-base continues to grow worldwide. They're unusual for a European group in that they have strong popularity both in Asia (particularly China and India) as well as several Anglo-American nations.

Walk With Me
Michael Learns to Rock Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Was it fine the way we chose to spend our time?
Knowing you has been an everlasting thrill
And I love you still
Strong is life and really hard to sacrifice
This world of mine though it has been rough sometimes
Evil words I said when I was really mad
Walk with me, just turn around and let it be
I have come to guide you all the way
Walk with me 'cause I have got the key
That finally sets you free
Time reversed, they calling from the universe
A world unknown, I'll have to travel all alone
Left behind is an echo of my mind
For anyone to find
Walk with me, just turn around and let it be
I have come to guide you all the way
Walk with me 'cause I have got the key
That finally sets you free
The song "Walk with Me" by Michael Learns to Rock is a ballad that delves into the contemplative thoughts of a person reflecting on a past relationship. The first verse of the song expresses doubt and uncertainty about whether or not the person's behavior and choices were good enough. The person is reflecting on their past actions and considering whether they were right or wrong. The second line in this verse, "Was it fine the way we chose to spend our time?" suggests that the person is looking back on the experiences he shared with his loved one. Despite this hesitation, the chorus of the song remains steadfast, "Walk with me, just turn around and let it be, I have come to guide you all the way, walk with me, 'cause I have got the key, that finally sets you free." This verse shows the singer still loves their partner, wants them back, and believes they can both move past their past mistakes.
The second verse touches upon the hardships and difficulties of life. The lyrics reveal that the world can be a tough place, and sometimes it's challenging to make sacrifices. The singer acknowledges that he has said evil words in the past, possibly in the heat of an argument, but they didn't mean them as badly as they came out. The chorus is repeated, reminding the listener of the singer's desire to be with their partner and guide them towards a brighter future, promising to set them free.
In the third verse, the singer talks about the passage of time, particularly how quickly and suddenly it can change. The image of the universe calling him or her suggests a much more important and grander destination. The person is uncertain about what lies ahead. The chorus repeats this time with a new sense of urgency, as if begging the other person to come back and promising their love never changes.
Overall, "Walk with Me" portrays a journey of self-reflection and a desire to make things right. The song captures the complexities of love and relationships, where moments of doubt, regret, and hurt are balanced with a sincere desire to find freedom and happiness together.
