1. Country / Rock Music Songwriter (Active 2014 to Present)
2. A Tony Award-winning American stage actor.
1. Michael comes from a family of musicians, and is the seventh of eight children. His father, who played jazz clubs in Chicago, had a major musical influence on him in his early years. Michael began playing drums at the age of 6 and immediately became obsessed. While pursuing a Bachelors of Economics at Mississippi State University, he began touring with regional rock bands: playing drums and co-writing songs. Michael also started competing and was awarded as one of the Top 5 finalist of Guitar Center's Drum Off in 2009.
Although drumming is his first love, songwriting was always an interest he wanted to develop. Michael says, "Most drummers are not known for songwriting and singing. As a drummer, you're somewhat limited to writing because most songs are written with a guitar or piano. So I taught myself how to play the guitar, and then mixed in different drum beats, followed by lyrics and vocals." Michael began working on a new solo project that would put him in charge of his musical career as a songwriter. After a year of writing, he has recorded in Las Vegas, NV and Florence, Alabama. His debut single "Can't Stay Away" will release in July 2014.
ALWAYS LOOK ON THE BRIGHT SIDE OF LIFE
Michael McGrath Lyrics

They can really make you mad.
Other things just make you swear and curse.
When you're chewing on life's gristle,
Don't grumble. Give a whistle.
And this'll help things turn out for the best.
And...
Always look on the light side of life.
If life seems jolly rotten,
There's something you've forgotten,
And that's to laugh and smile and dance and sing.
When you're feeling in the dumps,
Don't be silly chumps.
Just purse your lips and whistle. That's the thing.
And...
Always look on the bright side of life.
(Come on!)
Always look on the right side of life,
For life is quite absurd
And death's the final word.
You must always face the curtain with a bow.
Forget about your sin.
Give the audience a grin.
Enjoy it. It's your last chance, anyhow.
So,...
Always look on the bright side of death,
Just before you draw your terminal breath.
Life's a piece of shit,
When you look at it.
Life's a laugh and death's a joke. It's true.
You'll see it's all a show.
Keep 'em laughing as you go.
Just remember that the last laugh is on you.
And...
Always look on the bright side of life.
Always look on the right side of life.
(Come on, Brian! Cheer up!)
Always look on the bright side of life!
Always look on the bright side of life!
(Worse things happen at sea, you know!)
Always look on the bright side of life!
(I mean, what you got to lose? You know, you come from nothing, you're going back to nothing. What have you lost? Nothing!)
Always look on the bright side of life!
(Nothing will come from nothing. You know what they say?)
Always look on the bright side of life!
(Cheer up, you old bugger! Come on, give us a grin! There you are! See?)
(It's the end of the film. Incidentally, this record's available in the foyer.)
Always look on the bright side of life!
(Some of us have got to live as well, you know.)
(Who do you think pays for all this rubbish?)
Always look on the bright side of life!
(They'll never make their MONEY back, you know. I told him.)
(I said to him, 'Bernie.' I said, 'They'll never make their MONEY back.')
Always look on the bright side of life!
Michael McGrath's song "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life" is a happy-go-lucky tune that encourages its listeners to look for the silver lining in any situation. In the first stanza, the song acknowledges the negative aspects of life but suggests that focusing on the good and finding a reason to smile can improve things. The second stanza reinforces this idea, suggesting that even during truly difficult times, there's always something worth celebrating. The final stanza takes a more philosophical approach, acknowledging that life is ultimately absurd, and death is the end, but suggesting that finding joy in one's fleeting existence is the key to a fulfilling life. The song's repeated refrain, "Always look on the bright side of life," emphasizes the importance of maintaining a positive attitude, even when it seems like everything is falling apart.
Overall, "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life" is a catchy, uplifting tune that encourages listeners to find joy in life's ups and downs. It's a reminder that even in difficult times, laughter and a positive outlook can make all the difference.
