Take Me Home
Michael Sweet Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Here I am standin', standin' in a
Foreign land
On my own and all alone, I lost my
One connection
I had it all, all before, but then I had to
Roll the dice
When my numbers, numbers fell, I paid
The price of desolation
Take me home, take me home

I need your love I need your touch again
Only you can break my heart of stone
I want you to come and take me......
Take me home

I've climbed the highest mountains, I've
Spent my time in valleys too
In this maze that we call life, there is a
Strength that gets me through
My walls may crumble and they may fall,
But there's one thing I know for sure
Jesus died to give me all and when I'm sick
He is the cure

[Repeat Chorus x2]

Overall Meaning

In Michael Sweet's song "Take Me Home," the singer finds himself in a foreign land, alone and disconnected from everything and everyone he once knew. He reflects on a time when he had it all before taking a chance by rolling the dice, and his luck ran out. He paid the price of desolation and is now pleading for someone to take him home. The singer yearns for love and touch that can break through his heart of stone, and he knows that only one person can provide that. He has scaled the highest mountains and gone through the deepest valleys, but there is a strength that keeps him going, and that is his faith in Jesus. He knows that when he is sick, Jesus is the healer, and he has given him all he needs. The chorus echoes his plea to those who can take him home, where he belongs.
