After having worked with the group of Vigon, Lemons, he created the group King Set in 1966 with his friend and guitarist Alain Goldstein. Two radio successes make known his voice and his talent for the rhythm: an original composition, Apesanteur (Weightlessness), in 1967, and Jezebel in 1968. His solo career began slowly with a 45t at the end of 1968 under the name of Michel Kingset, the following in 1970 under his own name. He has to wait until 1974 to find a large audience with two simultaneous "tubes": Say to me and Super Nana.

The song "La Foule" by Michel Jonasz is about a woman who gets lost in the excitement and energy of a crowded city during a festival. She is surrounded by noise and commotion, and she hears the music, the screams and the laughter that echo around her. She becomes disoriented and overwhelmed and finds herself being pushed and jostled by the crowd. Suddenly, she is lifted up and embraced by a man who takes her in his arms and dances with her. They are carried away by the crowd and become one, moving together effortlessly, lost in their own happiness.
As they dance and twirl around each other, the woman feels her spirits lifted by the man's smile and the joy that he exudes. However, her happiness is cut short when she is abruptly torn away from him by the crowd. She struggles fruitlessly to hold on to him as she is carried further away, feeling her heart break as she realizes that she will never see the man again. The lyrics of the song are a poetic reflection of the ebb and flow of human emotions, the highs and lows of relationships and the experiences that can shape our lives.
"La Foule" was originally written by Angel Cabral and Enrique Dizeo in 1936, and it has since become a classic of French music. Michel Jonasz's rendition of the song is a beautiful piece of poetry, with a delicate melody that reflects the sadness and hopefulness of the lyrics. The song has been covered by many artists over the years, and it remains a popular choice for French-language singers and musicians.

I remember the city in celebration and frenzy
Suffocating under the sun and the joy
And I hear in the music the screams, the laughs
Qui éclatent et rebondissent autour de moi
That burst and bounce around me
And lost among the people who push me
Étourdie, désemparée, je reste là
Dizzy, helpless, I stay there
When suddenly, I turn around, he steps back
And the crowd comes to throw me into its arms...
Emportés par la foule qui nous traîne
Carried away by the crowd that drags us
Nous entraîne
Carries us
Écrasés l'un contre l'autre
Crushed against each other
Nous ne formons qu'un seul corps
We form only one body
Et le flot sans effort
And the flow effortlessly
Pushes us, chained together
Et nous laisse tous deux
And leaves us both
Épanouis, enivrés et heureux.
Blossoming, intoxicated and happy.
Entraînés par la foule qui s'élance
Drawn in by the crowd that rushes
Et qui danse
And dances
Une folle farandole
A crazy whirl
Nos deux mains restent soudées
Our two hands stay clasped
Et parfois soulevés
And sometimes lifted up
Nos deux corps enlacés s'envolent
Our two bodies embraced take flight
Et retombent tous deux
And both fall back
Épanouis, enivrés et heureux...
Blossoming, intoxicated and happy...
Et la joie éclaboussée par son sourire
And the joy splashed by his smile
Pierces me and springs back inside me
But suddenly I let out a cry amid the laughter
When the crowd comes to snatch him from my arms...
Nous éloigne l'un de l'autre
Carries us away from each other
Je lutte et je me débats
I struggle and fight
Mais le son de sa voix
But the sound of his voice
S'étouffe dans les rires des autres
Gets drowned out by the laughter of others
And I cry out of pain, fury and rage
Et je pleure...
And I cry...
Entraînée par la foule qui s'élance
Dragged by the crowd that rushes
Et qui danse
And dances
Une folle farandole
A crazy whirl
Je suis emportée au loin
I am carried away far
And I clench my fists, cursing the crowd that steals from me
L'homme qu'elle m'avait donné
The man that it had given me
Et que je n'ai jamais retrouvé...
And that I never found again...
