The Situation
Mike Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Situation: nothing is worth my precious time
Medication: may not work, so none's prescribed
What can you do when your savior's on vacation
It's up to you, but ya just won't change the station

Situation: the kids today just ain't the same
Tribulation: the fashion is raw, but the message is tame
Cover your eyes and follow the latest pop sensation
You can if you try, as long as you have the right donation

I've had enough of the situation
Standing in line with your mind on vacation
Walking the line for a tired nation
I've had enough of the situation

Situation: the well is dry and there's nothing to drink
Provocation: there's blood on the floor and there's flies in the sink

I won't go on waiting for some inspiration
I'll make my own, maybe with some provocation

Overall Meaning

Mike's song "The Situation" seems to be a criticism of modern society and the way people behave. Throughout the song, Mike uses a metaphorical "situation" to represent the state of the world around him. He begins by stating that nothing is worth his precious time, possibly indicating a lack of motivation or feeling unfulfilled. He also mentions medication, but says that none has been prescribed, suggesting that he is not finding a solution to his feelings of dissatisfaction.

Mike then shifts his focus to younger generations, saying that the kids today are not the same and that fashion is raw but the message is tame. He seems to be criticizing the current state of youth culture and the fact that people are easily influenced by pop sensations, as long as they have the right donation. Mike seems to be calling for people to think for themselves, make their own decisions, and not blindly follow what is popular.

The chorus of the song echoes Mike's frustration and calls for change. He says that he has had enough of the situation, whether it be waiting in line with his mind on vacation or walking the line for a tired nation. The final verse of the song highlights the desperation of the situation, with references to a dry well, blood on the floor, and flies in the sink. However, Mike seems to be taking matters into his own hands and making his own inspiration through provocation.

What you mean? Mike didnā€™t look stressed

@nickpettibone

What you thought she was gonna cuss at the father or something

@cormacthem8406

Why did they feed a baby that choking hazard of a food in the first place? Is the situation still pilled up when they made that decision? šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

@xXDanielXx321

In his earlier days Mike was so self-absorbed into himself. Now he's a good-natured man and father.

@ChucksCherubs3

One day, his son will get to watch his father on Jersey Shore. šŸ¤

What is patting him on the back going to do? Ever hear of the Heimlich maneuver? "The Situation" is a complete rockhead.

@krystinfinity

The child is pretty small, so the Heimlich might cause more injury (the father's fist is practically the size of the child's stomach). He probably meant to thrust his hand on the back like how you would clear a blockage in a choking infant. But... he does not have the angle right at all. Should have had the boy facedown at an slight angle pointing downward at the ground and let gravity help while applying the thrusts on the back.
