1) Mineral formed in 1994 and like other young bands, they toured constantly, virtually living in their van. The band's first release, the 7 inch "Gloria"/"Parking Lot" 7", was released on Audio Concept by Kerry McDonald from Christie Front Drive (the record was later re-released by Caulfield Records). Through a few rabid fans, that 7" found its way into the hands of crank! and Mineral later decided to release their records on the label.
Their first full length The Power of Failing, was recorded in 6 days in October 1995, followed by a split 7 inch with Jimmy Eat World and Sense Field shortly after when the three bands hit the road together. Since then, Mineral has released another 7 inch ("February"/"MD") on Caulfield and songs on various compilations.
Mineral released their second full length, EndSerenading in 1998 with Mark Trombino at Big Fish Studios in Encinitas, California.
Shortly after completing recording for "EndSerenading", the four members of Mineral decided to go their separate ways. Chris Simpson and Jeremy Gomez formed the Gloria Record. Gabriel Wiley and Scott McCarver were briefly in a band called Imbroco. Gabe is now in Pop Unknown. Scott was last spotted in Austin but as far as we know he doesn't have a steady rock gig these days.
The Gloria Record have split up and Chris Simpson is working on a solo project called Zookeeper.
2) Mineral is a rock band from Armenia with a career spanning over two decades. Their most recent release has been "The Donkey", which was released in 2007.
3) The name Mineral was also used by a band fronted by David Wildman in Boston in the 1980s.

Mineral Lyrics

It just breathes and swallows memories
Like the seasons change
Sending showers beating flowers
Into the mud
Helpless we are crying out
The lyrics to Mineral's song "Soundslikesunday" deal with themes of time, memory, and love. The first line "Time doesn't always heal" challenges the common saying that time heals all wounds. Instead, the lyrics suggest that time only resurfaces and distorts memories, as the phrase "breathes and swallows memories" suggests.
The second line "Like the seasons change" compares the cyclical nature of time to the changing seasons, as they send showers and beat flowers into the mud. This could be interpreted as a metaphor for how time can bring both destruction and renewal.
The third line "Helpless we are crying out" suggests a sense of powerlessness in the face of time and its effects on memory. However, the final line "But we will love someday and how" offers a sense of hope, suggesting that even though memories may be distorted and destroyed over time, the capacity for love remains powerful and enduring.
Overall, the lyrics to "Soundslikesunday" are a contemplation of the complexities and contradictions of time and memory, and the enduring power of love in the face of these challenges.

Time doesn't always heal
It just breathes and swallows memories
Like the seasons change -
Sending showers; beating flowers
Into the mud.
And nothing is forever in this place.
Nothing but the way my heart fits in your hands;
The held breath of hope;
And the sweet lingering taste of grace.
How blessed we are for crying now,
For we will laugh someday…and how

"el tiempo no siempre cura,
sólo respira y se traga recuerdos
como las estaciones que cambian --
enviando duchas, y golpeando a las flores
hacia adentro del lodo
y nada es para siempre en este lugar
nada, solo la manera en que mi corazón está en tus manos,
el aliento de esperanza;
y el dulce y persistence sabor de la gracia
.
qué tan bendecidos estaremos por llorar ahora
por todo lo que vamos a reir algún día.. y qué tanto "

"Nothing lasts forever in this place, nothing but the way my heart fits in your hand."
I never paid close attention to the backing vocals (ironically of Simpson himself), but the lyrics are just wow.
