There are only a few internationally known DJs, producers and remixers from Switzerland. Robert Jan Meyer, aka Minus 8, is one of them. As a leading man in this group, his name is mentioned together with the names of Alex Attias (aka Beatless / Mustang / Catalyst / Bel Air Project) and the Straight Ahead label posse.
Robert Jan Meyer is an Architect and the brother of a well-known Swiss rave promoter. He started to make music at the end of the 80's, first as a bass-player in a Funk-band, but soon his fascination with Midi-equipment led to experiments with a keyboard and sampler. At the beginning of the 90's, Robert launched his Minus 8 project as a slow and peaceful answer to all the Plus 8 (on a turntable) speed madness that was prevalent in club music at the time.
By 1993 he also started DJing, playing mostly Acid-Jazz, Rare Groove, Funk, and Hip-Hop. Since then, Robert has consistently supported Swiss club culture with all his talents. He's also toured as support for big UK names like Goldie, Grooverider, Hype, Krust, Storm, Bad Company and Adam F. And now he's in-demand as a remixer. As all that wasn't enough, he's also found time to put together a great series of compilations - "Science Fiction Jazz"
The first ever Minus 8 release, "The Sweetest Sounds," was the actually the first release on DJ Cam's Paris-based label Inflammable. In 1997, Minus 8's first album "Beyond," followed (also on Inflammable), and received excellent reviews. "Beyond" was followed by a second album, "Beyond Beyond" for UK label Higher Ground (part of Sony UK). The English Trip-Hop and Drum & Bass scenes influenced both of these albums.

Since this video's been up for so long and I've grown quite a bit in my personal life, I want to leave a little something here for anyone who wants to see things from the other side. So, here we go...
I don't know how, but this video has managed to become a little cornerstone on YouTube and the Internet. Every time I think to myself that the comments are going to slow down and the views are going to just stop counting as the "Horny reference filled version of Beep Beep made by Minus8" fades into internet dead meme obscurity, I come back another year and see that it's still getting views and comments are still being left daily.
It's been quite the trip hasn't it? I've seen comments coming back year after year, people mentioning how much they've changed since they've first seen this, funny stories of other's experiences with this video. There's been tales of siblings dancing, parents raging, honest confusion over which is the original, people being disgusted, people being intrigued, and uhh... A pretty large handful of sexual awakenings. Not to mention how a good amount of comments even show how meme culture has evolved within these four years. I even found out about Saberspark through comments mentioning his covering of Judas and Jesus and his audience coming to this video to let me know about it. Heck, this even gave me the rare opportunity to have first hand experience of what it feels like to be recognized randomly by people in online games.
I honestly didn't think I'd grow so fond of this. Not the video per se, but the adventure I've had through these four going on five years reading comments from people all around the world. I'm by no means a content creator, my lack of effort shows this, and I really wish I had done something more with my channel on both YouTube and Twitch. But having this video up and seeing more and more comments on it daily really helped me to keep putting one foot infront of the other day after day.
I don't feel like I deserve any of this, especially since my part in this was simply me recording an animation then uploading it as a video on YouTube. I'm just incredibly thankful to have a little looking glass into the myriad of lives that happen upon this video. It's been really special to me, to the point where this video and comment section has become a little treasure in my life. I might not have hit it big or achieved anything spectacular and I one hundred percent do NOT want to make "uploading content that isn't mine" the whole schtick of the channel (I'm looking at you, random Anime Clip channels that use clips from shows to sell their low effort merch) but the small little chance this silly upload has afforded me to hear from tens of thousands of people, their thoughts and feelings, little tidbits about their lives, and their experiences that unfolded from watching the animation... It's been a passionate warmth in my heart ever since the first few people commented and asked for looped versions.
I know this is long and sappy, but seriously, to each and everyone of you that this low effort animation rip video has reached. Thanks for letting me read your comments, for sharing little stories about your lives and coming back to tell me how you've grown or how things have changed. It's silly, but I really feel like we're all in this together. I hope you're all doing okay out there, it's been rough lately, and I hope me sharing Minus8's animation has given you even a little bit of a respite in this mess we call life.

Fun fact, Minus8 made this animation and Tomska made the original animation and song, but for some reason YouTube credits this video to The Living Tombstone for his remix of the song, even though this isn't the remix version of the song. I turned monetization off but YouTube forcefully monetizes it anyway so any ad revenue this is making is going to TLT. I've tried to appeal it and show that it's Tomska and Minus8, but YouTube just ignored me because I'm just some nobody with no contact with any big name people or lawyers or anything. (But hey at least TLT makes some serious bangers.)
