The second album, Contravance, was released in 2010, with a second disc of b-sides in the pre-order package. The music was recorded in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in Isaac De King's home. The vocals were recorded in Blackheath, New South Wales, in Australia, in Gelfling Studios. With the release of Contravance, MiseryFields' fan base began to grow, although it was still limited.
MiseryFields is currently in the writing process for the third, self-titled album, MiseryFields, which is to be released some time in 2012.
MiseryFields is always looking for more members, but unfortunately, has yet to find anyone willing or able to play his style of progressive metal.
If you would like to purchase Contravance, or would like to join the machine that is MiseryFields, contact Isaac De King at ildeking@yahoo.com for arrangements.
Passage
MiseryFields Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
To see it all before you
Stretched as thin as it can be
When stand you in the centre
Holding still to embrace eternity
But what comes of holding still?
What good can say we in this?
Such tiny beings in omniscient strands
Inexorable, dishonourable,
These iron fists that stand no resistance
Unwitting in their strength
But oh...guiding us yet further on
Are they pawns as much as we?
The tesseract tumbles on and we
Stand in passage
And so stolen we continue
Efforts meaningless in lengths unknown
But once in a heartbeat we prevail
But for a moment
The skin stretched empty finds us
Eyes wide open to see
To feel
To embrace what feels stolen from us
Kept in this passage
Oh, reach beyond the shadows with me
Take my hand and step outside this
Oh, eternity can wait for one day
What loss would our absence be?
Oh, a step aside is all that we need
An endless night awaits us there
Oh, the passage will await our return
My dear...
The lyrics of MiseryField's song "Passage" express a deep sense of contemplation and introspection. The opening lines depict a relentless pursuit of understanding, as one seeks to comprehend the world and their place within it. The imagery of being stretched thin emphasizes the overwhelming nature of this quest. Standing in the center, the singer clings to the idea of embracing eternity, perhaps longing for a sense of significance beyond the limitations of their existence. However, they question the value of remaining still and ponder the insignificance of their individual selves in the grand scheme of things.
The lyrics then explore the idea of fate or external forces that guide our lives, referred to as "omniscient strands" and "iron fists." The imagery implies both a lack of control and the unconscious strength of these forces. The line "Are they pawns as much as we?" suggests that even these powerful entities could be subject to manipulation or directed by higher forces. The concept of the tesseract, a four-dimensional cube, symbolizes the complexity and mysterious nature of life's journey, with the singer standing in the metaphorical passage of existence.
The second paragraph shifts the focus to the transient nature of our efforts and the fleeting triumphs we experience. The reference to the heartbeat highlights the brevity of these moments of triumph. The skin stretched empty implies vulnerability or a sense of emptiness, but it also signifies an openness to experiencing life's joys and sorrows. The lyrics invite the listener to reach beyond their comfort zone and embrace the unknown. The idea of stepping outside of eternity suggests a departure from the timeless and embracing the temporary nature of existence. The passage becomes a metaphorical space where life unfolds, experiences are stolen or fleeting, and ultimately, the singer longs for a return to this journey with their loved one.
