Her poetry is somewhat maudlin but beautiful. Her compositions for piano are marked by the same looping style that characterized her son Nick's guitar work. Her daughter Gabrielle asserts that her mother's work is unquestionably a strong influence on Nick's work.
Little Weaver Bird
Molly Drake Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
take my good advice and forget your misery.
Your tears are all in vain and regret can be absurd.
Little weaver bird, get weaving.
The year is going by, and the season's getting on,
don't you think it's time to build yourself a home?
She blinked her brilliant eye, I don't even think she heard.
Your children will arrive, and expect a downy bed,
for everything alive needs a place to lay its head.
She looked at me and sighed, but she never said a word.
Little weaver bird, get weaving.
Oh, I can sympathize with a heart that is distressed,
but every bird who's wise will build herself a nest.
She looked at me and sighed, then a miracle occurred:
the little weaver bird got weaving.
Little Weaver Bird by Molly Drake is a song about encouraging someone who is sad and troubled to take action and move forward. The little weaver bird is portrayed as sitting sadly in a tree, with tears that are all in vain and regrets that are absurd. The singer offers advice to the bird, telling her that it's time to build a home and prepare for the arrival of her children. Although the bird seems to ignore the advice at first, she eventually gets weaving and the miracle of progress and hope occurs. The song is a metaphor for how important it is to keep moving forward and find purpose in life, even when things seem difficult.

mrs. America brought me here. the final episode and especially the final shot with cate blanchett was brilliant ! I love how it shows that Alice escaped a life of ignorance while Phyllis confined herself with her beliefs... She seemed happier at her prime when she was protesting than when she is back to being a homemaker.. I believe that she was a feminist without even knowing it...
