In 2006 they released Palmless Prayer / Mass Murder Refrain, a five-part sojourn of neoclassical grace and luminescence that defies lazy categorization. As dark as the bottom of the ocean and nearly as otherworldly, "Palmless" finds Mono inhabiting a magical world previously only hinted at in their most orchestral compositions.
Forgoing their tendency to erupt into hellish bursts of speaker-destroying noise, Mono instead exhibits remarkable restraint, stretching song lengths past the 15-minute mark, turning subtle crescendos into earth-shaking events. This record is a miniature panoramic view of the sea on an eerily still day, the current swaying at an impossibly lazy pace, and the sound of a thousand tiny waves crashing all at once.

I've heard Mono for two years and I love their music. But it's the first time I hear this album and I am speechless. It's the most beautiful I've ever hear. This music is not sad or melancholic but it can make feel that you're going deep inside yourself. It' s a peacefull state of mind. This is the third time in a row that I listen this track. So beautiful I was moved to tears. Truly...so very good. I am so grateful that I can hear such wonderful music. One that really clutches my heart and brings familiar place and people to mind. So soft it is, that gentle bittersweetness, that convoluted sound filling the space of empty sound. Though I must confess the dark melodic sounds, deep in the layers happiness is abound. It rises up from darkness, the heart growing large it's ethereal strings plucked like a harp. Ah, such a wonderful sound.

I love how this is the mirror image to Trailer 3. Trailer 3 is almost identical except filled with sadness, melancholy and finality, while Trailer 5 is the hope after the fact, that from the rubble we can rebuild.
